    I'm posting this review based on the experience I had during my recent stay with my family (July) in this cottage. I have chosen this cottage for two reasons 1. I had a pleasant stay during 2012 which was my honey moon trip. 2. I was so thrilled and delighted to stay this time with my family (6 people) in the same cottage to cherish the previous time experience but it was totally different (you will come to know upon reading this review fully). Day 1 - We reached Ooty via Mountain train from Metupalayam as we came by Nilgiri express from Chennai, the cottage owner said he will pick us from station and he did. After reaching cottage he asked us to pay the auto driver and when asked he says that he can only arrange for commuting and the guest have to pay for it (but he spoke to me over phone as if it's borne by them). Coming to the cottage rooms, first they gave us a separate cottage which we didn't like as it was not up to the mark hence we were given a two single bedroom cottages in a different building in which one of the room was same which we stayed last time. But this time there are damages in the flooring, stinking bathrooms and the bed spreads had stains like coffee and tea, light fittings out of 5,6 only one two was working but it was better than the first cottage. Poor maintenance inside. they gave one room without tv and promised to change it once the other room guest checkout and we were given two single room cottage (one was big and other was too small and there is no cupboard to keep clothes (When I asked the manager to give us a cupboard, he said it was broken by a guest who had stayed earlier and we will try to provide you one but not provided anything till we leave hence we managed with that). We ordered lunch on the day 1 as there are no nearby hotels and we were all hungry. the food was good but very limited and the sides were not sufficient for 6people but we din't make it an issue as they said it was prepared instantly with what they had already bought. good thing is geyser works 24/7 (many hotels has timing based) and they provided one hot water kettle to us. Second day, we had went for sightseeing and had food outside. On the last day, when I was about to pay the remaining amount for the room, food and beverage we had. I saw that they charged for 1 extra cup tea and i have just told them that we haven't ordered it and that's okay as it was just a cup of tea but the room attender was keep saying that we have ordered it and just to stop it there I said fine. Within two mins he came back and said we have charged less for lunch so manager asked 50rupees extra which was totally insane. It seems they change the amount from guest to guest. So I asked him that are you charging me more than the actual but he said "no madam, the manager had fixed that amount he said. Finally, I have spoken to the cottage owner that my check out will be at 1pm as I go back by mountain train (my checking was 1pm) and he agreed to it but on the last day what happened was different. the room boy asked me to check out at 10am (severe rain at that time) i told him that I have already informed owner that i will check out at 1pm. then I called him and asked about this, he suddenly raises his tone and said that "i'm asking you to check out only one room for now as we have sudden guest coming in due to online booking and he said i will give you two hours of extra time as if he is doing a favor and being generous. He didn't stood up on his own words. when it was clearly stated before the checking itself that I will reach hotel by 12.45pm (first day) since we went by mountain train and check out will be at 1pm. then my husband spoke to him and the owner suddenly changes his tone low and spoke in a requesting manner. My husband had advised him that "if you have already told about this we would have planned it accordingly. since you haven't planned it well for the new guest , you can't impose on the guest who are staying already. and added that don't do this to the next guest as you have did to us. After that we have checked out one of the room at 11am but no one had checked in their until we left the cottage. Then we called him at 11.30am to book a auto (for 1pm) for us to drop in at railway station. our train was at 2ó clock. when it was 1'o clock, we called him saying that we have checked out and asked about the auto. the manager was saying auto is coming, has come, it’s just near the gate , entrance each time we call. by the time it was 1.30pm we were all tensed of missing the train but he coolly says the train is at 2.30pm which was incorrect. My husband went up to the entrance to see if there was any auto and got the manager red handed. He shouted at him asking why he created all havok like this. he couldn't face any of us for his deed. we left the cottage in the auto , the auto driver had told us that the manager has just called him 10mins ago (1.20pm) to pick us. and the train is at 2pm. by the time we reached station, we hurried to the compartment and train started in the next two mins. the last day experience they gave us felt like spoiling the whole trip. I strongly suggest anyone to think twice thrice before booking this cottage. When I stayed during 2012, the management was different and we had no issues at all.     We stayed at this hotel for 3 days and 2 nights we were 100 nos. employees from Chennai. The rooms were neat, hot water was provided all the time, excellent breakfast was provided, room service was good. Mr. Udhaya shankar was an excellent person he provided a Great hospitality to everyone stayed there. People looking for Bulk or Corporate booking its a Excellent place to stay.... More

Overview

  3. The standard check-in and check-out times are 12 noon. Early check-in or late check-out is subject to hotel availability and may also be chargeable by the hotel. Any early check-in or late check-out request must be directed to and reconfirmed with the hotel directly.
  4. Failure to check-in to the hotel, will attract the full cost of stay or penalty as per the hotel cancellation policy.
  5. Hotels charge a compulsory Gala Dinner Supplement during Christmas, New Year's eve or other special events and festivals like Diwali or Dusshera. These additional charge are not included in the booking amount and will be collected directly at the hotel.
  6. There might be seasonal variation in hotel tariff rates during Peak days, for example URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, the room tariff differences if any will have to be borne and paid by the customer directly at the hotel, if the booking stay period falls during such dates.
  7. All additional charges other than the room charges and inclusions as mentioned in the booking voucher are to be borne and paid separately during check-out. Please make sure that you are aware of all such charges that may comes as extras. Some of them can be WiFi costs, Mini Bar, Laundry Expenses, Telephone calls, Room Service, Snacks etc.
  8. Some hotels may have policies that do not allow unmarried / unrelated couples or certain foreign nationalities to check-in without the correct documentation.   11. In case of increase in tariff during the URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, the customer is liable to pay the difference if the Check-in date falls during those periods.
