Perfect Business Hotel on South Mumbai
on Dec 23, 2017
I picked up this hotel by accident and felt in love with it. So I stayed here most of the time I visited Mumbai on official trips. The hotel carries the Taj brand to perfection. Not as big as many of the Taj hotels in Mumbai, nonetheless it has its own charm. The rooms are very cosy and nicely decorated. These are not very big though- but the size is just perfect for a solo traveler and the rooms with a king size bed is good for a small family for three, The breakfast is excellent - I would say the best of its class in Mumbai. The best part of the hotel is the outdoor pool which is as blue as the Arabian sea and its heated - not something you find too often in India ! The gym is alright.
Rooms on the higher floor has a view of the sea through the tall towers of the Mumbai city. The hotel provides fruit platter to the room for free everyday. However you will need to place a request with the in-room dining - something I did not find very helpful They should have been outright. The in-room dining service sometimes becomes too lethargic- once you escalate to the manager, things did fall in place. Puri Sabji is worth a go. I would have given the hotel a five star review but for the in-room dining experience.
Cuff Parade is a posh locality in Mumbai and the hotel is a short walk from the Colaba causeway. The hotel is a landmark in the area and well known to the local taxis as welll as OLAs/Ubers - they call it President. There are plenty of restaurants in Colaba Causeway and they delivery to the hotel- I used to get my biryinaydelivered from Dellhi Darbar on a few nights.
The hotel has a Thai restaurant which is very popular in the Mumbai - it serves delicious far-east cuisine with prompt service. The Wink bar becomes very busy on the weekend as well, Both are great choices. There is a traditional in-house Konkoni (Goan food)restaurant as well although I did not try that.
I will definitely stay there if I happen to visit Mumbai again.

Hotel rooms are beautiful, spacious and hygienic. Dedicated restaurants serve Italian, Konkan and Thai foods. Morning breakfast buffet layout is awesome. Masala Tea served by viva's is a super hit. Underground Metro station construction work is in progress in front of the hotel. City view rooms have good view. Spa, Gym, Salon facilities available. Coffee/Pastry shop available for hangout.

Our stay at Vivanta was really nice, great customer service, clean rooms and excellent food.
The only issue for me, and it is personal and well known to Mumbai, and that is the poverty in the immediate area, which I found a little upsetting.

Nice hotel although outside does not do it justice, especially as there were road works going on when we stayed here.
Inside is cool and beautifully clean with large bowls of flowers and the super efficient staff which seems to be the norm in India and puts some of our British hotels to shame.
It was the last led of our Golden Triangle tour and of the 6 hotels we stayed in this one had the best food and bathroom. There is a choice of restaurants and the choice of food at breakfast was excellent.
Mumbai was my least favourite place on the tour and the humidity is high unlike the northern parts we visited. We visited a museum, took a trip to Elephanta Island and went to a house that Ghandi had used so it was a full on trip.
