Overpriced and Under maintained
on Jan 14, 2019
This place has obviously been renovated and upgraded at some time to meet the requirements of the tour companies that use it, but unfortunately, the maintenance and cleanliness is pretty poor. When I checked in, for instance, I found stuff in the fridge long abandoned by a previous guest, a dirty bathroom, blood stained sheets and an almost empty toilet roll (no spare). The bed was comfortable enough, the A/C worked fine, there was a flat screen that I didn’t use, an ancient but functioning mini fridge (in sad need of a thorough cleaning!), and a spartan ensuite shower/toilet, that never seemed to have any hot water when I needed it. There is a working elevator, the wifi, while intermittent, was generally acceptable, and the front desk is staffed 24/7, with reasonably helpful although poorly groomed attendants. The third floor “restaurant” is not very appealing, and resembles a third grade factory lunch room in need of some custodial care. The food, however, must be prepared off premise, and where ever they get it from does a reasonable job, as its not bad, and fairly priced. The hotel is located in Karol Bagh, just west of Old Delhi centre, which is easily accessed by Tuk-Tuk or metro (station is a ten minute walk from the hotel.). There are hundreds of shops and restaurants of all types in the vicinity, and a busy market area. The narrow streets are very crowded, but reasonably safe, just take all the usual precautions. When I was in Delhi, the air was almost unbreathable, so make a planned exit for the highlands or the beaches ASAP!.
Basic hotel that fulfills needs, but slightly dubious

Rooms are very basic and fairly small, someone we met moved due to having mice in their room. I had no problem with critters, but had no hot water for a shower. The rooms did not seem the most clean, but not disgusting either. The breakfast is pretty grim and limp, better to grab a samosa at a place nearby. (But didn't get sick from it, so it must be safe). It's more expensive per night than Hotel Perfect across the road, but that is a far better hotel.
The reception staff were lovely.
The location is really convenient very close to the karol bagh metro station, easy to access by road it seems, and with plenty of shops and (safe!) places to eat nearby.

This was the last stop in our tour, arranged by GAdventures. We arrived late in the evening after a long train journey. The hotel is in a crowded, polluted and quite dirty area of the city. The Hotel Mehar Castle was the least inspiring and poorest hotel that we had stayed in on the whole tour. Our room was small and basic, with a rundown, cramped washroom.
We had to leave very early in the morning to go to the airport and the small lobby was bustling with what appeared to be staff members arising from sleeping mats on the lobby floor and putting away bedding. It was disappointing that our tour group could not have found a better hotel in a better location. A positive point was that the location was close to a main highway that went directly to the airport.

We had stayed in this hotel for 6 night. Very good hotel with affordable price. Nice clean rooms. Foods price is a bit high. Staff very helpful and response quickly. Location of the hotel is also good. Walking distance from Karol Bagh metro station and Sir Gangaram Hospital.
Fabulous outstanding hotel

I always stay at Treebo Mehar Castle for leisure trips and will never change for another hotel...superb stay from check-in to check-out. All staffs are welcoming and helpful and service is impeccable. The rooms are spacious and clean with stunning interior design. Restaurant provides an attractive menu and hot and fresh food is always served. The hotel is also walking distance to the metro station and shopping centre. Overall I had an absolutely perfect 2 weeks holiday!
