Lovely quiet hotel with fabulous rooms and great restaurant

I loved this place. Might not be to everyone's taste but it has a really nice feel to it. Parquet floors. Generous sized rooms with large bathroom and even a bath. Myvroom had 2 nice armchairs, a fabulous standard lamp with solid wood stand. Felt quite mid-Century modern.
The hotel is situated up one of the hills (where there are wuite a fee hotels. It's only a 20 minute walk to the town centre or 5 minutes in a Tuk Tuk (the hills are quite steep!). The location means that the hotel has fabulous views down over the town and to the hills beyond. The restaurant on the lower ground also has great views and a large outside terrace/eating area.
I was there on a Saturday night and was thrilled to have Premier League football on the TV in the room.
Room rate included a good breakfast choice - American/Continental/Indian. I ate in the evening as didnt find anywhere good in town. Hige porrions of tasty and well-priced Indian food.
Small heritage property

This is an old British style house converted into a hotel. The rooms are big with huge windows, though the views are not that great because of trees obstructing the view. One can see hills in the distance, though. The rooms are not very clean and food is just ok. I used to eat at King's Cliff hotel which is just opposite. Keep in mind that the hotel is on a hill, quite a distance away from the heart of the town.
Overall comfortable stay

Initially, we were disappointed with the limited view from the room we first got; however, the staff proactively gave us a room with a better view when another guest checked out.
I liked the location - not too far from the town, no traffic problems, good view from room etc. The approach road was quite bad, but that wasn't the hotel's fault. Although the property looked quite old, we didn't find anything to complain during our overnight stay.
Dirty rooms, bed bugs, broken taps etc

The experience is so bad that I have to write this review before even checking out. Its an old property with very poor maintainance. Bathroom tap is broken, the wooden floor has nails popping out, TV is defective combined with staff which doesn't care about service.
From amenities perspective you will get nothing, not even a basic room heater. So if it gets cold (and yes it's cold here), the staff recommendation is to put another blanket as supposedly the hotel's power supply is incapable of handling the load.
Great alternative to regular hotels

I loved willow hill from the very moment i laid my eyes on it during my search for places to stay in Ooty and i did not get disappointed when i saw it for real. It is a small yet beautiful place with a well kept garden. The room was cozy, well kept and had a beautiful view. The staff were pleasant, food/restaurant were decent if not great and house keeping was up to mark.
If you are someone who just loves to relax and be away from the hustle and bustle this is for you. It takes 20 to 30 mins to reach the heart of the town and being secluded with no hotels or eateries or shopping places around is the only disadvantage of this place.
