One day trip to Tall Trees Munnar
on Jan 18, 2020
This is one place that pampers you to the core and takes good care of all its guests even our kids. The resort uses high quality stuff and is worth the money spend. We as family loved it and will definitely recommend it to all.

This is a great place for nature lovers. Friendly staff, great food and next to some spectacular views. Whole family had fun and didn't want to leave. We are definately going back there. A sweet surprise was birds singing in the morning. Lots and lots of trees. Resort was well maintained. Staff assisted my mom to move her in wheel chair to various places in the property up on request.
Of tall, majestic trees amid the greenery

At Tall Trees, Munnar, the trees are indeed tall. And they are majestic with the greenery surrounding them making the wider setting a perfect stage for some much-needed nature in our lives.
It was in June 2019 that we set our eyes on Tall Trees Munnar, thinking about a much-needed break from dull city life in the months ahead. As my wife and I do every year, we were planning a trip in August, a month where the greenery across the hills in India seem the most verdant due to preceding monsoons.
A few emails back-and-forth on dates, number of people, and details about the journey from Kochi later, we were booked for the Tall Trees. The folks there were also kind enough to suggest bookings for a car not only to pick us up and later drop us at the airport, but also for any travel during our stay in Munnar. I would advise others to discuss their travel plans with the guys at Tall Trees—they are always there for good advice and you won’t regret it.
Close to our trip, there were some concerns regarding incessant rains in Kerala and breakdown in road transport in certain parts of the state. And during this time, the folks at Tall Trees kept giving us updates. That was very reassuring.
We were three people in the end taking the trip (one of our friends dropped out due to an emergency). We had booked a nice cottage which had a spacious sitting room that opened out to a large balcony. Sitting on that balcony with a cup of tea and eyeing the greenery surrounding was indeed an eye-enriching experience. A floor below were the two bedrooms. The bedrooms opened to a cozy sitting area, ideal for many a conversation among family or friends. It was here one day that I was thrilled to see the mist filtering in.
The resort is on a hill with the dining area at the very top. Please note that the walk up may be a tad difficult for old people or those with disability. The resort, however, has a car that you can access for travelling up. The dining area is neat with a few tables also on a balcony. Its an ideal place of have your breakfast, munching on some wonderful food and sipping hot coffee as your eyes feast on the beautiful scenery beyond. The service in the restaurant is wonderful with the Chef often checking on our requirements and the meals provided. We used to have breakfast and then head out to explore Munnar using the vehicle we had booked for our four-night stay. While we had lunch outside everyday (don’t forget to check out some really nice eateries around town, especially Rapsy), dinner was in the resort. On three nights, there was a buffet with quite a decent spread. On the fourth night, we had some wonderful Kerala food, ordered A la carte.
There are a quite a few places to visit around Munnar. We told our driver that we wanted to avoid the crowd and he was kind enough to take us to some picturesque locations. We also took a 4X4 drive through the hills and it was totally worth the money. For those wanting to stick to the usual routes, the waterfalls are amazing and so is the tea factory. The latter gives you a great sense of the decades gone by. We wanted to visit the forest to see the Nilgiri Tahr, but the day we had planned for the visit, the forest was closed suddenly. Don't miss that one. The folks at Tall Trees also take you on a trek up the adjoining tea garden—as you walk up, soak in some breathtaking sights of green leaves and the clouds flirting with them.
There are a few names I must mention. Arun, Mani, and Vignesh at the front office were really helpful—at the time of reservation and all throughout our stay. They and the restaurant staff ensured that when we left early morning for our flight back, we didn’t leave without some packed breakfast. Alagu was outstanding at the restaurant with Abey, Hanima, Rahila, and Basil always there for any help we needed. More than the food, thanks for the numerous cups of coffee we kept bugging you guys for. Ram from housekeeping was a darling—he made sure the room was perfect and as if that was not enough, he kept checking in between for any requirements. All these guys also made sure that my wife had a nice birthday surprise. And finally, there was Jijo leading the team with his delightful smile and exceptional hospitality. Thanks, guys.
If I have to recommend anything for improvement, it would be to have more Kerala cuisine. I know you have guests from different parts of the world, but a bit more of Kerala stuff and it would be awesome.
Tall Trees was a great travel experience. with he trees and the greenery imprinted in my mind months later as I write this review.
Great for a staycation.

As all the other reviewers have mentioned its a property with a lot of tall trees around. Its pretty high up and has great views of the plantation below. The property is about 7 kms from Munnar town but the roads leading to it are an absolute nightmare for about 4 kms towards the hotel. The cottages were decent sized and definitely clean but basic. The staff is what makes this place worthy of all the praise. We had an excellent start to our vacation thanks to Mr.Jijo and everybody else we interacted it was very polite and eager to help. The food is nothing to write home about bordering on average. the breakfast buffet was good. The spa service was good too.
The property could consider adding a few things like loungers on the terraces, maybe a hair wash chair in their spa.
The only way to get around was on foot and the land is on an incline so would not suggest for those who might find physical exertion to be a problem.
