Very bad hotel
on Jan 2, 2020
I came New Dehli in Dec.2019 with my friend, I booked this hotel on booking.com with 3 rooms for 1 night, when we came hotel , the guy (receptionist worked night shift) asked us pay money more than the price in booking.com , he said the price in booking.com is wrong , I can't accept that reason but at that time 11pm so I had to stay there for only 1 night and check out early morning. They turned off the elevator when I checked out.
The room is so bad, so dirty pillows and toilets also. No amenities in room , the guy receptionist is not professional . so I never come back again.
Cockroaches, Dirty, Rude
on Dec 21, 2019
We, a group of 3, booked the room an evening earlier before we wanted to stay for a total of 4 nights (end of December 2019). We asked about the basic things (hot water, breakfast, cleanliness). We were told that water runs warm 24/7 and rooms are great, which is why they charge a comparetively higher price. We asked whether we could check in at 10am in the morning and were told that this is absolutly no problem. We arrived at the morning around 10am and were told that the room is not ready and we shall wait 30 minutes. We went to the McDonalds next door and came back 45 Minutes later, just to be told that it would take another 30 Minutes to an hour. As we had an apppointment and were running late, at that point we were recommended to leave our luggage next to the reception and they shall put it in the room. We thought that this sounded like a fair idea.
In the evening, when we came back, the receptionist was rude and irresponsive, teling us that there is no luggage and there is no room. After discussing with him for 30 Minutes and waiting for another 30 for our luggage to be found, it had been put in a room on the 4th floor. We were told that the lift is broken and would be fixed the next day (which, obviously did not happen).
When we went to the room, it was quite dirty. There were spider webs around the room and stains on the linen. No toilet paper in the bathroom and no shower gel or shampoo. Water was running really cold, when we called and asked what the reason is, we were told that warm water is only available in the morning. We asked whether that is really true as we will have to leave early in the morning around 7 and want to shower before leaving. “100%”, we were told.
Water in the morning was ice cold, but we had no time and needed to leave. On the way out, we told the receptionist that water will run warm later in the day, we laughed it off and said, we’ll see, but if it doesn’t we will leave.
We came back later the evening and lift was still broken. Walked up the stairs to 4th floor, just to realize that our card was not working. Walked back down and Up again, just to see a nightmare in the room:
1, No service had been done. Nobody had cleaned the roomed, changed the linen or done anything else in the room.
2, When we entered the bathroom, cockroaches were walking around.
3, When we took a closer look at the linen and the pillow it was dirty on side facing the bed.
4, Water was still cold (which was least of our problems)
5, When we called the reception to complain, we got a rude response that this can’t be true and we are lying. He’ll send somebody to check.
Upon seeing the cockroaches and the rudeness and filthyness of the place, we took our things and decided to leave immediately. In a very friendly way we communicated to the receptionist that this is in no way a standard that we can accept and we will leave now. As nobody had entered the room and we had already paid the first night, we suggested to resolve the conflict by us paying a small sum, although we did not want to pay anything for this place.
The receptionist started threatining us that he will call the police, as we are not paying for the services we had received (which were none) We sat down and said he can do that and we will be glad to talk to the police about this situation and we are willing to pay for keeping our luggage. He started placing fake calls and after 5 minutes ended up calling the hotel manager. The hotel manager was very calm and friendly in talking to us, but was blaming everything on us. He promised to change our room and hot water, but we couldn’t stand the place for an minute longer. As we were fed up with the place, we told the manager he can decide whatever he deems sensible for us to pay, but we are not staying at this rude dirthole any longer and will definitely warn people from going to this place. He reduced the room rate by 20%, we paid and left.
I wouldn’t recommend this place for anything. It is dirty, every staff member who you ask about something is lying and promising that everything will be fixed the next day. Don’t fall for these empty promises. There are enough other places in Paharghanj where you are treated humanly.
Worst hotel, should be shut down.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed.
Filthy room and toilet.
No lock for the room, it seems the digital locking system has gone wrong and not repaired. The front desk claims this as automatic doors as all the customers are fools. How can anybody go out without locking the room?
The taps were dirty, broken and leaking!
TV not working.
Charge for the mineral water supplied @ Rs.50/- when it is available at at Rs. 20/-in the market.
Terrible, and the authorities should order this to be shut down.
2 stars is being generous! AVOID!

I rarely write negative reviews, and I tend to have low expectations whenever I visit much poorer countries than my own. However, for safety and security reasons, i feel compelled to give a fully frank and upfront review to forewarn fellow travellers about both this hotel and the awful slum it is situated amidst. The Pearl Hotel is absolutely filthy (much like the road outside and most of the surrounding hotels). They don't use proper cleaners or maids. The rooms and bathrooms are caked in dust and filth. The mirrors are rusty. They don't supply enough toilet roll or amenities. The bathroom was so unappealing that my son and I didnt shower for the 4 days we stayed at The Pearl as we didn't feel it would have the desired effect of making us feel clean! The hotel categorically does NOT accept card payments despite various booking websites claiming as much. They also try to pressure you to pay in dollars, pounds or euros instead of rupees. My son and I arrived quite late at night and assumed we could pay by card, but I was unceremoniously marched up the road to withdraw money from ATMs (both of which were not operational - a familiar story all over India!). I then had to argue back and forth with the guy at the front desk to allow me to settle the bill the following morning otherwise I'd take my business elsewhere! They also don't low you to keep the key card to the room - you have to keep asking them to let you in each time you re-enter the hotel, which is very awkward and inconvenient. The entire road and surrounding area outside is a poverty-stricken slum with litter strewn absolutely everywhere; stray dogs and animals wandering all over the place, large groups of men lingering on every corner (very intimidating and worrying if you're a solo female traveller); poorly maintained pavements and roads peppered with potholes and cracks; the busiest and noisiest road in terms of traffic volumes (the house never stops throughout the day or night), and pickpockets everywhere......... I could go on, but I'm sure you get the picture!
