Hidden gem magnificent house in town
on Oct 28, 2019
We had a wonderful two nights in this truly magnificent bourgeois house right in the centre of town. It takes your breath away as you enter into its large grounds (the “parc”) which are immaculately tended by the Sylviane, the owner - it contains an ancient chestnut tree, formal garden and large selection of unusual roses. My daughter was entranced by the several breeds of chickens which roam the garden. The house itself is stunning. We stayed in the Royale suite in the main house which was very tastefully decorated and immaculately clean, sumptuous bedding, superb bathroom with separate toilet and large walk in shower. Sylviane has overlooked nothing and there are touches of her impeccable taste everywhere. It’s brilliantly placed right in town so you can walk to several good restaurants and bars. You also have a boulangerie right next door - not that you need it because breakfast at the house is fabulous - viennoisserie, jams, baguette, cheese and other delicious things. You can also stay in a separate house (the cottage) and the renovated stable block. St Dizier is well placed to visit the champagne houses nearby in Vitry or Reims and Epernay are an easy hour’s drive away. We cannot recommend this beautiful place enough.
Quiet spot in an enclosed garden

The hotel is located just away from the centre of town. It has its own large, walled garden, which provides privacy and a quiet environment. Accommodation is either in the main house or the annex, both are which are old, gracious buildings. This is
a B&B with only a couple of rooms. The bedroom in the main house is spacious with old work decorations, flat screen TV and creaky parquet flooring, The bathroom has twin sinks, large rain head shower and plenty of hot water. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet.
Breakkfast is adequate, although the range of offerings was not particularly extensive.and is served in the main house.
Entry to the property is via powered gates. Use of the intercom at the entrance is required to contact the owner. Covered and secure parking is available on-site The owner and her family live on site, and she is helpful and friendly.

We used St Dizier as a base for cycling in Champagne. St Dizier itself is a tired town however this guest house is a gem and Sylvia’s the perfect host. It’s a beautiful town mansion set in a large Garden in the centre of St Dizier. It has been beautifully restored with exceptional taste. Our room was large and comfortable with a fabulous en-suite. Breakfast was simple but of great quality. I would very much recommend this as a place to stay.

What can I say about this place!! Wow wow wow if you’re looking for a little gem of a find then this is the place to come to. I arrived on a Sunday and had a great warm welcome . The main accommodation was next to the main house which was probably a coach house many years ago.
The room was modern with tea making and air condition. On Sunday most of towns are like ghost towns but here we have restaurant and a bar or two open
Breakfast is in main building which was really good. Would I stay again Yes Yes Yes
Beyond Our Expectation

Loved staying the night at this exquisite family house where we were greeted and looked after exceptionally well. The room was very clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. There is a book in each of the 3 guests rooms telling you where you can see, shop etc. Very thoughtful. The breakfast was beyond our expectation with touches like a bowl of nuts, chocolate, delicious jams, cheeses and pastries. Will definitely stay here again if we are passing through.
