The Little Prince Heritage Home is a lovely way to experience the authentic heart of Udaipur. It is situated across the pedestrian bridge which provides some separation from the touristy atmosphere of the pushy and busy area yet still close enough that it can be easily explored in less than a five minutes walk. The accommodations are clean and modest and reflect the original charm of Udaipur. The location means cars (4 wheelers) cannot drive you directly to the door (they won't fit on the street) from the airport (likely they will drop you at the pedestrian bridge unless you ask otherwise) but this affords you the ability for a short walk through the charming narrow street ways full of colour and experience and a personal introduction to a real neighbourhood with real citizens' homes and culture. If necessary it is definitely possible to take a tuk-tuk, just be sure to let your driver know before hand to drop you at the appropriate area (though I recommend the walk as it's more interesting). There are only seven rooms which means staff are immediately available to help you at all times with any question or problem you may have either related to your stay in the property or more importantly in Udaipur generally. The character of the living heart of Udaipur, not the touristy influx of pushy merchants and traffic, is best experienced from this location. The lounge and kitchen area offers excellent views of the Aravelli hills and Monsoon Palace and from the rooftop you can see across the lake to get the best views of city Palace of its primary facade (not possible while on the touristy side of the lake). The food is great and at market prices and when you feel like a change there are dozens of great restaurants all within a few minutes walk in the charming neighbourhood offering all options from budget to luxury to suit your tastes. Artisan crafts are of higher quality and better prices in this area as well. What really makes Little Prince Heritage Home shine however is the dedication of the staff. They are a close knit group of friends who work very hard to create a balance of privacy or attentivity depending on your personal requirements. They are happy to immediately meet your needs, or give you space, depending what you ask (or don't ask) for. They will go beyond the normal requirements of a 'business hotel' to help you with common and not-so-common traveller queries whether it be simple requests like where to go, when to go, how to go to local attractions both on and off the beaten track, or less common but often more important things like which doctors are reputable, lawyers or notaries and how to manage the paperwork, arranging itineraries for onward trips and tourism, how to recharge your SIM/data, assistance with purchasing specialty goods and evaluation of prices to avoid scams and price gouging, On several occasions they took hours out of their work day to bring me around the city (at no cost) to make sure I could complete necessary administrative tasks to continue my work/travels; an excellent service for digital nomads or professionals who spend a great deal of time travelling but who also want to experience authentic local culture along the way. A friend of mine was stranded in Malaysia and the staff assisted me for hours at 3am in order to resolve the problem, including finding alternative means of financing in India which can be quite tricky for foreign travellers. They are available 24/7 and deserve great respect for the hard work that they do, This kind of help is invaluable for international travellers and makes it laughable that some pretentious guests may complain about superficial "problems". Breakfast is a great time to meet the other travellers, most of whom have interesting stories and friendly dispositions. If you are a cheap business traveller expecting a sterile, impersonal, western style hotel that will cost ten times the price, then this is not the place for you. If you are an open minded domestic or especially international traveller looking for comfortable, personalised, authentic and helpful accommodations then The Little Prince is absolutely perfect. I have been travelling continuously for professional reasons for more than 2 years, living in accommodations from desert sand to the most expensive five+ star hotels on the planet, in 34 countries ranging literally from the most to least developed, and The Little Prince stands out in my mind as the most pleasant I've experienced in all the hundreds of places I've stayed. I lived there nearly a month and specifically readjusted my work schedule in order to return again in the very near future. Very highly recommend. "Home" is not a euphemism - You can be family here.... More

    Happy experience!
    on Mar 15, 2019
Our stay at The Little Prince Heritage Home was a very pleasant one. We arrived late in the evening but were well received and shown to our (upgraded) bedroom within 5 min. The room was spacious and we were very happy to see it was clean, especially the ensuite! It was also nice to enjoy a hot shower! The view from the rooftop is amazing, especially during the sunset, and we enjoyed a simple but delicious Indian breakfast (aloo paratha with curd) with masala chai in the lounge area - very comfortable and with a nice view! The location is good, as it is only a short walking distance to the footbridge and other restaurants etc, but also located away from the busier part of the city - with constant honking of cars, tuktuks etc. The staff were happy to mind our backpacks on our checkout date as we had a late bus out of Udaipur, so that we could continue exploring and also happy to have us relax in the lounge while we waited to depart. Can definitely recommend this place for other couples looking for a simple but good place to stay while exploring Udaipur. The service was great, the staff were friendly and always willing to help and they checked up to make sure we were happy and to ask if we had any complaints. Thanks guys for looking after us! We would be happy ro return :) ... More

Created a negative image of Udaipur
    on Oct 14, 2018
I stayed here for 20 days for work purpose. I had to wait for 20-30 minutes at the time of check-in as they didn't have the booking details and the room was not cleaned. The staff is really polite but unknowledgeable. The place is inaccessible by four-wheelers. The Ola/Uber/Rickshaws don't drop here. The hotel is out of Ola serving limits. The negative things noticed were: 1) Frequent power cuts. There is no backup electricity supply. 2) Really poor wifi which doesn't connect in rooms. I had to always go on the terrace where the restaurant is located to connect the wifi. 3) The hot water is provided via solar water heater. Thus, no hot water on an overcast day and night times. 4) The hotel lacks in terms of service. During the stay of 20 days, linens, towels, and blankets were changed 3 times only. The blankets were torn. 5) The breakfast is really insufficient for one person. There is a choice of either an omelet (with 2 slices of breads and butter) or paratha (with curd) and tea or coffee or lassi. I ate omelet on most of the days which tasted different on every day and the garnishing was different on all days. The restaurant was cleaned (brushed) trice while having breakfast. Plus, there were limited options in menu for really high price. Most of the options were unavailable and food quality was low. 6) Cleanliness: The hotel falls in a dusty area thus needs a lot of cleaning which is done in the corridors but rooms are dusty. 7) Some loose wire connections were noticed which generated sparks. When the issue was reported to the management, they just tried to fix it for some time and this was experienced 4-5 times. 8) The surroundings are really unclean with the cows and stray dogs roaming all over. 9) Lastly, the images of hotels on different websites are misleading. the existing condition of the hotel is completely different from photos. All the bedsheets, curtains look old and dusty.... More

    Little prince

Namaste!! We stayed at the little prince hotel in udaipur recently. I had two sr.citizen ladies with me. And they took very good care of them. Though the structure is not sr.citizen friendly but their heart and mind was very friendly. The upholstery needs to be more cleaner in the rooms as well as in the restaurant. Rather it needs replacement of the covers of all the upholstery. I found their tariff reasonable. The food was delicious. Though it was difficult for them to make food without onion garlic but they did excellent job. The staff is always ready to help and they were very cheerful young lads. Overall, it was a pleasant experience staying with them. They also organised our trip in and around udaipur. The driver suresh ji was well informed about the places, artists etc. We really came to know about real udaipur, shopping places and the artists through him. Thank you very much for everything you all did.... More

The place looks very nice and the rooms are very clean but... before to Check-in it would Be better to Check the bed to avoid to Be surprised in thé middle Of thé night By an orde Of BED BUGS. This can happen even in the best place; What troubled us it was how the staff manage the situation. We havé been given a different room the second night, to Be again moved in our prévious room the third night (the one with the bed bugs that was strongly smelling Of poison), even if the Hostel had other rooms available. Poor wifi. Simple free breakfast but Nice.... More
