    Having been reliable repeaters at the Leela over the years - a two-week stay each time - this time 24th Dec until 06th Jan felt there was something seriously missing at the Leela. When paying a good price for the Leela for a two-week stay, we've learned to expect good quality that, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. Had a fantastic check-in with Ms Anjali at 3:30 AM whom we know from previous visits already and had a great chat with her upon check-in. Had the room we know from previous visits (#623) facing the city that has been very well kept over the years, however, experienced some serious flaws in the service over our two-week stay this time that should not be there at the Leela in the first place: 1 Breakfast: Indian guests seem to be favoured at breakfast and had to wait for a table a number of mornings; maybe the restaurant is simply too small to cater for all guests when the house is full, Moreover, had almost finished the breakfast when the coffee arrived a number of mornings, too long really. The staff are working very hard, they are lovely and try their best, however, the management should look into this very carefully (how to deliver a five-star breakfast at the Leela). 2 Housekeeping: reasonable but forgetful. Had to call for basic items several times (fresh towels, coffee, ..). Not exactly five-star quality, moreover, they seem quite overwhelmed when the house is full and this leavers us wondering if more training or more staff are needed at peak times? 3 Toletries in room: we understand this to be part of brand policy - the present supply are simply too cheap for the Leela - why not try Forest Essentials, Kama Ayurvedic or other Indian quality suppliers that are simply fantastic. 3 Gym: good at all times. 4 Pool: very good at all times. The pool boys (or gentlemen, actually) are excellent. Having travelled to India for the past 30 years or so, we seem to be getting more demanding every time. The Leela is a great address in Chennai but there is clearly room for improvement: we love the house and the members of staff we've met over the years when visiting Chennai are simply adorable, however, there is clearly room for improvement that must be addressed immediately. When boasting a number-one status in town, you must live up to it every time and, as per our latest two-week visit to the Leela, the quality seems to be deteriorating. Where next?... More

Overview

Built on 4.8 acres of land, The Leela Palace Chennai is in close proximity to the business district of Chennai. This luxurious hotel features a fitness center, spa by ESPA, steam and sauna. It also has the Lobby lounge which serves cocktails and hi-tea to its patrons. This hotel is 5 km from Kotturpuram Railway Station and 29 km from Arignar Anna Zoological Park.This Chennai accommodation has 326 rooms and suites overlooking the sea and the city. Rooms have amenities like a workstation with reading lamp, separate sitting area, flat-screen television and attached bathroom with spa mood lighting, 3 telephones and shower facility.

  1. Guest must be over 18 years of age to check-in to this hotel.
  2. As per Government regulations, it is mandatory for all guests above 18 years of age to carry a valid photo identity card & address proof at the time of check-in. Please note that failure to abide by this can result with the hotel denying a check-in. Hotels normally do not provide any refund for such cancellations.
  3. The standard check-in and check-out times are 12 noon. Early check-in or late check-out is subject to hotel availability and may also be chargeable by the hotel. Any early check-in or late check-out request must be directed to and reconfirmed with the hotel directly.
  4. Failure to check-in to the hotel, will attract the full cost of stay or penalty as per the hotel cancellation policy.
  5. Hotels charge a compulsory Gala Dinner Supplement during Christmas, New Year's eve or other special events and festivals like Diwali or Dusshera. These additional charge are not included in the booking amount and will be collected directly at the hotel.
  6. There might be seasonal variation in hotel tariff rates during Peak days, for example URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, the room tariff differences if any will have to be borne and paid by the customer directly at the hotel, if the booking stay period falls during such dates.
  7. All additional charges other than the room charges and inclusions as mentioned in the booking voucher are to be borne and paid separately during check-out. Please make sure that you are aware of all such charges that may comes as extras. Some of them can be WiFi costs, Mini Bar, Laundry Expenses, Telephone calls, Room Service, Snacks etc.
  8. Some hotels may have policies that do not allow unmarried / unrelated couples or certain foreign nationalities to check-in without the correct documentation. No refund will be applicable in case the hotel denies check-in under such circumstances. If you have any doubts on this, do call us for any assistance
  9. Any changes or booking modifications are subject to availability and charges may apply as per the hotel policies.
Booking Policies

  6. The total price is inclusive of all applicable taxes.   7. Hotels may charge a mandatory meal surcharge on festive periods e.g. Christmas, New Year's Eve etc. All additional charges (including mandatory meal surcharges) need to be cleared directly at the hotel.
  8. Some hotels may require guest(s) to furnish a valid photographic proof of identity in original at the time of Check-in. Kindly carry the same along with you to avoid any inconvenience. The following documents are recognized for this purpose: Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Passport or Election Card.
  9. Note PAN Cards will not be accepted as a valid ID card.
  10. All refund requests must occur within 60 days of hotel check-out. Any refund for checking out early or for no shows will be given at the sole discretion of goomo.com.
  11. In case of increase in tariff during the URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, the customer is liable to pay the difference if the Check-in date falls during those periods.
  12. Goomo acts purely as an agent to hotels/suppliers, hence Goomo shall not be responsible for issuance of any invoices on hotel room charges.
