    We recently had a trip to Kolkata and had a stay at The Fern Residency. A property for The Fern Hotels, located very close to the airport. It was good to find a hotel so good, very close to the airport after a tiring and a long 3 hours flight. We had booked a suite for our stay. The room wavs very well maintained, clean, had refreshments at the dining table and towels and shower essentials available at the bathroom. We had a great experience while staying at a spacious room at this hotel. Washroom was clean and huge too. They had a bath tub available. We had breakfast included in the package. We also tried their buffet at the restaurant in the morning. They prepared the eggs and dosas on request. It was a decent stay and a lovely experience at this hotel.... More

    The Fern Residency 204, Main Arterial Road, Noapara, Sukanta Pally, Newtown, Kolkata, West Bengal 700157 Hotel Food Spammers 840 points   5 minutes ago This property of The Fern Hotels is located very close to Kolkata airport. The staff is kind, polite and friendly and always available at the service. The management is prompt and active. Rooms were clean and hygiene maintained, the washroom was clean while we walked in to the room. The service staff came to assist carrying the baggage to the room. We had a pleasant stay at a Double bed room which had television, cupboard, dining table, sofa, foot n legs massage machine, weight machine towels and shower kit available. We ordered for the breakfast at the room. Room service was quick to get the breakfast in about 20 minutes. We stayed at the hotel for a night. We tried their breakfast from the buffet too and had our lunch at the restaurant. The restaurant and all day cafe is located at the second floor, next to the lobby. Morning buffet had a huge variety. A combination of Indian and western breakfast. Healthy and Junk. Lunch we tried a couple of dishes on chef s recommendations. We loved the Pardewali Biryani, Roast Chicken and Mushroom and Kofta Kadai Masala the most from the dishes we tried.... More

    Wonderful business class transit hotel !!

    The stay was excellent and their service was excellent too. Me, Arko and Kranthi from Genpact came to stay for a night. We had a amazing welcome while checking in by Mr. Diptyenjoy (Mr. Roy). prompt response and recognized us by name and company was great.He guided us about the property and informed about the restaurants as well. even at the time of check out he solved the issue of payment, as reception person Mr. Ananda didn't aware about genpact payment term, but Mr. Roy took initiative and solved the issue and processed a hassle free check out. I will recommend this hotel to all corporate, thanks to genpact for tie up with Fern. the hospitality is better than Fern Hyderabad. Awesome hospitality.     I had cancelled my booking at The Hojo just because Fern site on yatra said it had bath tub or shower. I figured I had a choice and asked for a room with bath tub. On checking in, I got a room without one. When I asked the reception, I was told I wouldn't get what I wanted as it wasn't available. I asked why I wasn't informed earlier as I had booked in advance. I had made similar inquiry with Hojo after booking but they replied saying they didn't have bath tub and so I had promptly cancelled. The staff said he will speak to his manager and call me back. I waited for 30 mins but never got the call so I called reception again. I was informed that I would be called back by the manager. After about over an hour I went down to the reception desk where I was told nothing could be done. When I asked to hear it from the manager, they called the manager who turned out to be very rude and incompetent. Spoke without any decency and most probably didn't understand half of what I said. His name is Mr. Diptyenjoy Roy (go figure). He kept insisting it wasn't their fault and blamed yatra. I had earlier spoken to yatra and so I was actually caught and tossed about between Yatra and the Fern Residency Kolkata. Frustrated, I decided to just let go and try staying the rest of my time making peace with my situation. I stayed from 22-24 December 2018. Several things that I would like to point out. 1. The staffs at the front desk need to be trained to be more professional and courteous. In waiting for the call back from the front desk and the manager, I wasted about 2 hours after checking in. I couldn't unpack not shower as I was wondering if I may need to change rooms. I had been traveling for over 24 hours with transits in airports and jetlagged. I was hoping for a relaxing time not not anticipating such distress and frustrations. 2. Mr. Diptyenjoy Roy who supposedly is a manager is a liability for your hotel. A manager cannot be someone who is rude, does not understand English and cannot communicate properly in English. He is rude, crass, and lacks basic customer care skills. On the other hand, a certain staff by the name Dalia was very professional, very sweet with a pleasant and professional attitude. 3. The breakfast is actually good and that was the only thing I enjoyed in the hotel. Maybe a live counter is something you can add to your breakfast buffet. 4. Good location with walking distance to malls, movie cinema, Big Bazaar, and Spencer's. Overall, I was not a happy camper at all. And I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.     The hotel is really good for people on transit for the purpose of catching flights, but we use the property for RESIDENTIAL CONFERENCE purpose too. The staffs are well trained to serve its clients with entire satisfaction. The rooms,food and conference halls are up to the mark. We are people with prolong hospitality background and find the place very good. Our FITS are happy , using the hotel.... More
