Pay for the property but No Service

I booked a Family suite in Sunny Vijoya on 15 June, 2019 through agoda.com,Booking ID-371261217 and when I reached the hotel with my family I found the hotel was under renovation following damage due to Funny Cyclone.No clear answer from the hotel owner why the booking was allowed through agoda,com when the hotel was nonfunctional.Till to date booking amount was not refunded to my account and agoda,com untraceble.Not fair to the customer at all.Terrible lifetime experience.
Not a" 4 star "hotel

I have visited puri on 17 April, 2019 with family and stayed for 3 days in this hotel. I booked this hotel over the phone, after checking the rating as 4 star. No doubt about the location, its really very good location, near to the sea, even from the balcony also you can enjoy the view. The beach is not overcrowded, its peaceful. The manager Mr Narayan, was very polite and helpful. I never thought I will give a 2 rating for this hotel. But all the furnitures (sofa, the back board of the bed, tea kettle, mini fridge) were extremely dirty. All the glasses and the cups provided in the room were stinking. The hotel staff were refused to provide an extra bed sheet after paying so much of money for the room and they said NO to change the bed cover for the extra bed (extra bed is nothing but a Sofa cm bed). If these things can be ignored, the hotel is good as location wise, food is also OK. They have complementary breakfast, it's good but should not compare with the breakfast with a 4 star hotel. They have their own transport system, they can arrange for that. Jagannath temple is very nearby from the hotel. Local transport like auto or toto is also available from this location.
A Place where You Surely Should not stay

A Hotel best avoidable. Have been a regular there for the last 20 years but over time have become extremely indifferent to their customers.
One goes to a place to relax but nowadays has become a fad to host weddings there. I have no issues with that but then you cannot also let it out at the same time to people who want to relax.
I went there on the 7th of March 2019 and while doing the booking over phone was never told that a full fledged marriage is on with the prework of stage loud music being played. The lawn was completely made unavailable by the chairs put there not to mention the confusion at the reception.This is most unprofessional of this hotel.
Anyways for people who want to witness these loud weddings on a vacation go for it .....

I visited Puri for the second time after 21 years and by choice stayed at the Sunny Vijoya International (stayed here when I visited Puri in 1998).
My impression was that the hotel went under significant renovation when I did my bookings through make my trip.
The USP of the hotel is its location with an awesome breathtaking view of the Ocean straight from your rooms!! And the hotel provides quick and immediate access to beach through its lawn in the backyard. You can easily get auto rickshaws / taxis from outside the hotel for visit to the temple.
The food provided at the restaurant in the hotel is great and reasonably priced with good options for lunches and dinners as well as for quick bites between meals. Breakfast spread is average but limited options will not disappoint you in terms of taste.
Now comes the worst part of this hotel..its overall service levels.. sorry to say but house keeping services are lazy, bad and very very casual. There is no focus on cleanliness and room service providing a good customer experience. Even in the restaurant the service could considerably be improved more so for the fact that they have a lot of staff standing idle on most occasions but not willing to proactively provide the guests the bare minimum. The hotel needs to introspect and understand there are some basics of the hospitality industry that they must abide for example staff and guests waiting for the lift ... the staff does not have the courtesy to let the guests go first.
The washrooms demand significant maintenance and uplift to provide basic services.
I will just end it by saying if the hotel puts its acts together on the service levels and maintenance, it will be one of the best hotels in Puri..
Old property with no maintenance

It's an overpriced hotel with poor service. The property is old and not at all maintained. The staff wasn't supportive & professional. No value for money. Basic amenities were not provided properly & on time.
