Food here is very tasty but limited options .- no juice etc .
You can immerse in the silence .
Room was neat , bed spreads clean .
TV was in good condition .
Room heater was provided but not sufficient .
General upgrade of the place can make it top notch.
Overall worth the buck.
Extremely disappointing! A museum piece rather than a hotel!
on Nov 13, 2017
We stayed at this hotel for three nights and to say we were disappointed is an understatement!
This old colonial hotel is set in tranquil surroundings on the outskirts of Shimla and is situated down a very steep lane. Although we as two females did walk back to the hotel in the dark, it is not recommended and it felt unsafe.
The building is full of old museum pieces but there is so much that needs attention in order for it to be described as a comfortable hotel!
As it is it is so very over priced and we cannot recommend it.
Our room number 503 was shabby and dirty and at this time of year, November, very cold.
The bathroom was also dirty and the bath/ shower mat was filthy!
The TV was inoperable and impossible to switch off.
The bedding was grey and was not freshly laundered!
Our room was described as having a balcony with a view but there wasn't a view. There is a building in front of the balcony and below is rubble and rubbish!
It is important to know that the hotel's complimentary taxi service only takes you to the top of the steep lane and will not convey you into Shimla. This is very difficult on check out when baggage is included. No one informed us of this!
If this hotel was budget priced it might just be acceptable but at the price quoted it is completely unacceptable and we cannot recommend it to anyone.
We did take photographs but we were unable to post them for some reason.
An antique place
on Nov 6, 2017
The resort gives a feel of old British style architecture with wooden flooring, well crafted cots and a lot of fancy articles in the room. The resort is located in the woods near the Annadale and the location is very serene and blissful with a view of the hills.
The have a sit out like place cum restaurant.
The disappointment was that the television never worked in the room. For a stay of 2 nights and 3 days, the TV never worked what so ever.
The food here is amazing but it lacks variety. Half the things on the menu are not available. They have a very small dining space which makes dining a noisy affair.
on Nov 6, 2017
We were there for 2 nights.
It is a nice resort, but certain things need addressing.
First..the directions to the place need to be made crystal clear on the internet.
It should be clearly mentioned that the resort is accessible by a very steep slope. So the elderly can definitely not stay here. Nor can those who have breathing problems.
In fact one has to have high fitness levels to be able to stay here.
On the hoarding leading down to the place it says 50 meters which is completely untrue. Its quite a walk!!
Secondly we were not very happy with the cleanliness. The duvet covers were CERTAINLY not fresh.
The sheets though seemingly washed had hair and stains.
The bathroom tiles need to be given a thorough scrub.
We wanted dinner and about half the things that we asked for were not there. This included tandoori chicken, boondi ka meetha, butter chicken, and even plain cheese grilled sandwiches.. saying that there's no cheese!!
On the positive side, however, the reception staff, particularly Kamal, were warm, polite and friendly.
And helpful as well.
The response, whenever we called for something was quick.
We were shown the Scottish Cottage as part of a tour and it is really nice.
It has been maintained reasonably well.
The environs are very peaceful and relaxing.
If they could take care of some of the above issues..I'd recommend it to those who are fit and able.
Scottish Villa --Good but....
on Aug 21, 2017
The resort was good but if you are seeking the facilities of a Modern Hotel then its not suitable for you at all.
Ill summarise the details as follows
Excellent Location(totally covered by green forest)
On Site safe Parking(very hard to find in shimla)
Nice walk around the forest
Free car service to Chowk Area( mind it the walk from here to mall road is of 15 mins, since vehicles mot allowed therefore this is the drop off point)
Guy at the reception is either not fully aware of the services or oversmart.
Geyser was not wrking( i read in somebodys elses post as well , so i guess the hotel doesnt care)
For complimentary bottles of mineral water we had to kind of argue, however we got em.
Although i understand its not easy to do so but the Scottish Villa must have a Kitchen. Or atleast A Microwave coz generally only a family takes up a 6 room villa.
I understand the Altitude but still the service is extremely sloww. Veryy veryy slow. The only good part is that the food is tasty.
The over all hygiene and cleanliness level is way too down. I have stayed at a lot of boutique and properties that go back down to 100-200 years and are now commercial hotels. Trust me you guys need to improve.
Get somebody to do some repairs.
Bring in some nice toiletries and nice and clean towels.
Since the charges are very good i think you guys can cover the cost.
