Excellent and reasonable restaurant off the highway

My taxi driver stopped here for me to have a sumptuous meal after visiting the famous churches and temple nearby and on the way to the airport. They restaurant has a good variety in the menu and naturally Goan curry was the selection. Goan food is not as spicy as Andhra food but just as tasty. The service is wonderful and a I also got to taste the world famous Feni. A bar is attached to the restaurant in case you want to order something else. Sadly, with the latest Supreme court order the bar will have to close as it is on the highway. A lot of taxis park here and I assume this is a popular pit stop for tourists

Good place to stop for meale enroute from/ to the Airport

Shell Top is actually more famous as a restaurant, with some room options, on the NH17 and is usually recommended by taxi operators as good place to stop for Lunch enroute from/to the Dabolim airport, if you are going to stop in North or South Goa. It is clean and air-conditioned, and they have a mini shopping market around it as well, for last minute pickups.
Rates are reasonable enough. Fish Thali Meal for 2 cost here will cost about Rs. 500, including cold drinks. The place is neat and clean, and is usually crowded.
We did order ala-carte, which seemed kind of expensive though. Rs. 350 for Fish fingers, and Rs. 350 for Prawn curry... nothing much to brag about here.
All in all, if you are getting down from or catching a flight just around lunch or dinner time, are really hungry, have an hour to spend, you may as well try this place, as there aren't really too many restaurants en-route that come recommended by the local taxi operators.
