Private garden hideaway
on Oct 13, 2017
I recently stayed 5 nights at this friendly and relaxing resort. Situated about 5-10 min walk to either Patnem or Palolem beach, this is a true garden hideaway. With super friendly hosts Nazir and his brother Musfiq, you are able to settle in quickly and soak up the lush garden setting in tranquility. Unfortunately there was some construction going on next door during my stay, but Nazir was quickly on to asking them to keep the noise down. There are some very good places to eat close by, and the rooms are comfortable and very clean. This is a very safe and happy place to stay.

Right on the beach, in a quiet part of Agonda. Close to nice restaurants and bars. Very clean and convenient. Good value with well maintained gardens. Beautiful sea views from most rooms. The owner was very helpful
Perfect hideaway in south Goa

The huts are all well built and cosy and the garden is really nice and peaceful. Perfectly placed between Patnem and Palolem it's ideal if you want a base to visit both.
Hot water, wifi, and mosquito nets were in the huts, and a cool veranda with chairs and a hammock.
The best part for me though was the hosts. Monica is super friendly and easy to talk to, and has lots of insider information about the area, and Mushkat (sorry if that's not right), who we saw most of the time, was one of the most helpful hosts we've had so far on our travels.
Highly recommend staying here for patnem/palolem visits

Memorable..in the best kind of way

Just back from a 7 week stay in Secret Garden. Perfect location, set between 2 beaches in a stunning jungle garden, incredibly safe, with fairly private huts and within a cool leafy environment (which, after the glare of the beach, is like heaven)!
Monica and Nazir are good people, interesting and kind, trustworthy and fun, with as much info' as you might need about the local area and getting from a to b.
The cafe serves simple but good food (Indian breakfast recommended) and is partly set under a canvas outdoors, with bookshelves, Carom board, fire pit and outdoor beds to lounge around on. Nothing like sitting by the fire in the evening, under a canopy of stars, with your book and a chai!
The team are truly attentive, especially Mushkat who seems to intuit when you might be about ready for a cuppa, he's an awesome co-host and a really lovely hardworking guy. He's also uncle to Kaavi, who's 2 and a bit and you'll often see the pair of them, piggy back style, around the garden, they're inseparable and Kaavi's a lot of fun too, cheeky and interested in everything.
There's also a sheep, a little bow-legged black and white young one who likes to munch on the banana plants and who you'll sometimes find underneath your breakfast table, hoping for a scratch behind the ear (but don't worry, they'd notice and remove him in a flash if you didn't like sheep around at breakfast)!
Warning..you won't be able to go really fast here, mornings will stretch out as you get chatting with the team or other guests, the shade of the jungle keeping you cool and the sense of relaxation in the place. It's a little haven and a rare gem and you can lose days here in the best kind of way.
There are frogs and there are ants. This is a fact of life in the jungle and if that's a problem, then you shouldn't be booking here. Go to a generic, faceless 5 star inclusive over in North Goa. They keep everything so clean and tidy at Secret Garden but it's the JUNGLE! It's not to do with cleanliness, it's to do with environment. I personally became quite friendly with my resident frog.
Tip..bring earplugs. Through no fault of their own, the little road outside has got increasingly noisy for a short time at night and in the early mornings, with dogs, breadsellers bicycle horns, call to prayer and fireworks to see off said dogs..so it's worth having some earplugs..and knowing that you're going to find this at most places, it's not just Secret Garden, it's India! You'll soon relax into the new sounds and find you sleep like a baby on their super comfy beds, which literally could fit 3 people in.
Secret Garden has bags of character, great people, it's cheap and perfectly positioned, so book today but don't tell too many people though, or you'll blow the secret!
Many thanks to the family for looking after me so beautifully and providing the Retreat that I've waited so long for. I'll be back.

This is a really nice quiet place with simple but nice fairly private cabanas. The common area/reataurant is a nice gathering spot for breakfast and the owners are super nice and very helpful if you need any advice. It is a bit of a walk to the beach tho so if you want beachfront there are lots of other options
