    After previously visiting the GBR restaurant , we wanted to try their brunch as well. What a wonderful way of spending a lazy Sunday afternoon. We picked few starters which we shared and thanks to Denisa's recommendation, we chose the tomahawk as a main. FANTASTIC idea!     We had a three-night stay at Dukes in early January. Here's a summary of our experience: LOCATION Walkable to many things, including Buckingham Palace, shopping, restaurants, public transportation. It was tucked away on a sleepy side street, which was great. I really liked the location, which is why we chose the hotel. ROOMS The rooms are nice with comfortable bedding. The bathroom was a decent size. The walls are a bit thin, as we could hear everything outside of our door, including the people across the hall coming/going in the middle of the night, and we are not light sleepers. I would plan to bring earplugs. SERVICE Mixed on service. When we first checked in the person we were dealing with seemed inexperienced and wasn't particularly helpful. She assigned us to rooms in a lower classification than we had booked, which was a problem because we were traveling with our teenage children and they were trying to give us rooms with queen beds instead of rooms with two twins which we had booked and paid for. After some discussion, someone else was able to jump in and help get us the correct rooms which we appreciated. The front door staff was very friendly and attentive. The staff in the GBR restaurant was also great. The bartender in Dukes bar was not. Our first day at the hotel after dropping off our bags in the room, we walked into Dukes bar at literally 3:59pm -- it opened that day at 4pm -- and we were scolded by the bartender and told to wait in the lobby until 4pm. I know it was 3:59pm when we attempted to walk in because I checked my phone to see the time. After a long travel day and a rough start to our stay at the hotel with our check-in experience, I was speechless at the way he treated us. That said, the martinis were fantastic once we were allowed to come in and order one. Overall the stay was fine. I would recommend this hotel for someone who wanted to stay in a good location but whose budget didn't allow for a luxury hotel in the same area.... More
