COME IN AS A GUEST , WALK OUT LIKE A FAMILY MEMBER

We had the good fortune of staying with Mr Jayakrishna Karnavar at his homestay in Munnar. It was a truly wonderful experience . The location is away from the hustle and bustle of the city and we woke up to the chirping of birds and gurgling water stream as most rooms face the rivulet. The food was amazingly tasty and mr Jayakrishna and his cook's warmth was infectious. He made all arrangements for our local sight seeing as well as our drop to Cochin. With his contacts we could even pick up some aromatic and organic spices .
WE CHECKED IN AS GUESTS BUT WALKED OUT AS FAMILY .
Indeed a home away from home!

I have visited Munnar three times in the last five years and that was all with friends as bachelors. This time it was with family and a with a group of 10 including 4 kids . We arranged the room at Ripplesnrocks Home Stay as friends suggested this place as family friendly. This is located little away from the hustle and bustle of the Munnar town and on the river banks.. There are good tourist attractions nearby. The owner Mr Jayakrishnan (Jk) is very friendly and helpful. Special mention should be be done about the food, which was simply awesome all home made. The rooms were all river facing and was very comfortable and clean. Housekeeping was regular. Muthirapuzha river and its vicinity is one such place where serenity fills your senses. JK, as expected was in his jovial best (we had good conversations about the place over phone and emails) and our day began with a fresh cup of cardamom tea offered by the graceful hostess Priya Jayakrishnan
We went for sightseeing during the day time we were surprised by both JK and Priya with a dinner, which cannot be described as exclusive, but grand! Kerala delicacies like spicy fish curry were spread out for us and served with heartfelt laughter and discussions … This is where we felt we are at home… Ripples N Rocks with its pleasant hospitality made us ‘stay at home’… It’s not a home stay, but a true home for all those who long for home even while vacationing… Cheers JK for the lovely days and be warned, we will be back :) I recommend this place to all friends for family stay.
Stayed with family from February 23rd to 27th 2017
Nice quiet place with an excellent view, activities and homely food.

This homestay sits right on the bank of a gushing stream emanating the soothing sound of flowing water, it's the only other sound! Rooms are nice and clean with a balcony overlooking the river.
We went for fishing and at night sat around a campfire next to the river. It was a refreshing and relaxing experience for us. The food there is nice and special items may be requested on demand. The place is also quite close to Munnar town.
Of all the places I have stayed in Munnar, RipplesNRocks will be high on the list of places I would recommend!

This guy and the establishment is a complete sham. I made reservations with this homestay based on Tripadvisor reviews. Now I would take TripAdvisor's reviews with a pinch (or lot) of salt. I would also ask my friends to be careful.
I was visiting Munnar with my family of 10 people which included four elderly and two kids. I trusted this person and was extremely disappointed. We planned to be at this homestay at 8:30 pm which we called and told him. When we reached his place the lights were out and no one answered the door. I was absolutely shocked. This is a rusty and secluded place, it was late at night. My brother in law and my husband called innumerable times before this drunkard somehow managed to open the door. He could not even stand. There was no food, the rooms were filthy. I had every reason to be angry since he spared no time to us while asking for an advance which we wire transferred from the US. When I protested, this guy had the cheek to shut the door on our face. It was the most terrible experience ever. I wanted to go to the police station immediately, but my father in law and my mother wer getting sick from the travel. We checked into a hotel which we somehow managed to find so late.
The next day my husband called Mrs. Karnavar who refused to return the advance and her excuse being "you should have known my husband drinks". It was an utter joke. Do not fall for the Diamond Certification by KTDC. This is a sham. I am appalled at the review Mr. Karnavar provided as "ATITHI DEVO BHAVA". He lies through his teeth. The hotel we were staying in The Munnar Queen management spoke to his wife and somehow managed to get our advance. I have lodged a formal complaint with Kerala Department of Tourism and I am also copying the mail to Tripadvisor India liaison.
I hope that no one goes through this experience and I will make sure that I follow this case through. Just think twice before you make any reservations at this place. This can be extremely scary experience for you.
