    Wonderful ......
    on Oct 25, 2019
Tucked away in the old part of Bhindar, this is a real gem. The hostess Parthvi and her team have perfectly balanced the 'home from home' with the right level of detachment, by which I mean they know when to take a step back and allow their guests some space. Parthvi extends a warm friendly welcome and checks any dietary requirements and will even check the menu is to your liking each day. The food is exceptional and Parthvi will happily share her recipes with you. It is not possible to leave here hungry, as there is always more than enough of every dish available. Each meal is accompanied by a hand written menu and breakfast consists of a number of dishes, all of which are supplied and dinner is three courses - all delicious. Have to mention that the meal supplied for our wedding anniversary was exceptional and thoroughly enjoyable. Parthvi is also happy to share the history of her family and the wonderful old building they care take and which as a guest, you share for a short time. The property is - and rightly so - dated, but the accommodation was spotlessly clean and well kept with comfortable bed and refreshment facilities in the room. The dining room is decorated with historic family related photos. The courtyard is a charming place to dine by candlelight in the evening. The service was efficient and friendly. The trainee waiter was very keen to be of assistance and was always polite and smiling. Everyone here makes you feel welcome and at ease. Things that will live long in the memory, are: shopping in the narrow lanes of Bhindar; lazily scratching the tortoise's head whilst having some relaxing drink in the courtyard; dining in the courtyard by candlelight and drinking chai as a roadside 'cafe' with Parthvi and her father, on our way to see flying squirrels. This venue has so much to offer and yet it is possible to just relax and kick back if that is what you need at the time. Loved Rajmahal Palace, it's staff and Bhindar - will definitely be returning.... More

    Perfect place
    on Mar 3, 2019
This is the place I would love to return to. We were made so welcome here by Parthvi and everyone at the hotel and also in the surrounding area. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, you have all the modern facilities you could wish for, but provided in a building steeped in history. The food was excellent, and so was the coffee! There is plenty to do here; cookery classes, horse riding, yoga, exploring the small town, days out to the Sita Mata, the lake, or Udaipur - or you can just totally relax and enjoy the peaceful environment. We were very sorry not to be able to stay for longer.... More

The best stay of my Rajasthan trip!
    on Jan 16, 2019
I didn't know what to expect as the taxi wound its way early evening through the narrow streets of Bhinder busy with the buzz of local election fever and the remnants of Divali. At the gates Parthvi welcomed me personally and invited me in to the beautiful courtyard set with tables flickering in candlelight! Magical. I knew I was in for a treat! Parthvi's family built and have lived in this palace for more than 400 years and in the old days the four gates into the property were locked each night and the Maharaj held the keys. Nowadays the gates are always open and the palace very much a living, working part of the small town life. There are school classes held in one of the buildings. My bedroom was on the first floor leading off from a small common sitting room ..the bedroom itself had a window seat overlooking the courtyard which I loved. Everything is provided for you in the rooms, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Parthvi is a marvellous hostess, she has taken on the running and upkeep of this property by opening up the doors to us the lucky public. She and all the staff are delightful, charming and cannot do enough for you. Parthvi herself is a very keen cook and delights in planning and preparing the menus with her chef. As a cook myself I thoroughly enjoyed every dish I was presented with and also discussing and exchanging recipes with her! The following evening myself and the other guests had a cookery class in the gardens with the entire evening meal cooked (and tasted) in front of us. We ate so much during the class we couldn't do the meal justice at the end! Fabulous food. My only regret is that this stay was at the end of my Rajasthan trip and sadly I had just two nights there. The entire family made me feel welcome, I couldn't have felt more at home in such delightful surroundings. I fully intend to return and make it my base to explore more of the area and Udaipur.... More

Warm and Welcoming Heritage Palace Stay
    on Jan 12, 2019
We can not express enough how lovely our stay at Raj Mahal Bhinder was. Parthvi is a warm and welcoming hostess who makes you feel at home. The over 400 year old bulidings and grounds are well maintained, with carefully appointed comfortable rooms and there is a fine collection of artifacts. We enjoyed the conversations with the family who are all very knowledgeble about the rich family history as well as of the area. Bhinder is a lovely spotless town, (literally I mean free of trash) with friendly people and lively little avenues dotted with shops and temples. We thoroughly delighted in the excursions that Parthvi arranged for us to the Sita Mata Temple and jungle, Lunch inside one of the largest and oldest banyan trees on a portable e pinic table complete with table cloth. We went Bird watching and we even saw a flying squirrel! Oh my! I didn’t even mention the food yet! Parthvi is a trained chef and prepares the most sumptious Rajasthani meals. Breakfast can be taken indoors in the lovely dining area and dinners are beautiful on the lawn with all the lights. Cooking classes are available and I really encourage you to do one or more! And of course there is Muffin, the resident Pug!... More

    Hotel that feels like home
    on Dec 1, 2018
We arrived at this hotel situated in the middle of a maze of thickly populated narrow shopping streets and were greeted very warmly by young Parthvi who welcomed us. The property is over 4 centuries old and is well maintained with dollops of old world charm. Parthvi is the 21st generation of owners of this charming property with her adorable assistant Muffin (her canine pug!). The room was lovely and comfortable, the staff were very welcoming and attentive and within minutes we felt very much at home. The courtyard is very tastefully decorated with lawn furniture for dining, at dusk the staff lit up candles all around creating a romantic and soulful atmosphere with Rajasthani folk music playing in the background. There are many authentic artefacts that must have been in the family for generations - to name a few - an old telephone, a small scale balance, a small cannon, there is even a miniature cannon fashioned out of an old wine bottle mounted on rustic wooden wheels! Parthvi demonstrated many antique items of interest including a message carrier with bells, a tiffin carrier, a multipurpose stick that coverts to a stool or a weapon as needed, a fan with a belt driven wheel manually operated and lots more. The warmth and hospitality is beyond compare, Parthvi and her staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, The traditional Rajasthani cuisine served is lovingly prepared and delicious. I only wish that we had spent a little longer at this property than just one night. I would thoroughly recommend this property to anybody that would like to take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life and drown in the luxury of total peace and calm, explore the local attractions and experience the warm hospitality that this place has to offer....
