    Very good place for family holiday

    Recently visited Ooty and stayed in this hotel for 3 days. At overall level resort can be rated between 4 and 5 stars. My good experience starts from booking where I was given very good deal when I booked directly with Sterling and it was almost 30% less of rate prevailing at MMT and Yatra. Resort is located bit far from town and road to reach here is not very good but manageable. Check in process was slow but smooth although welcome drinks are now missing from Sterling resorts regularly , staff at reception was excellent and quiet helpful. I booked privilege suit and it was very big and spacious , it has one living room , one bed room and small kitchenette. Room also offered good views from the room and sit out area. Room has all the amenities needed including heaters which is must in here in December. Hot water supply is bit erratic as it takes time Resort offer excellent views of of Ooty valley and there are lot of activities for kids and family to do here like indoor and outdoor games , play area. Every day they have some holiday activities in evening. Lawns , gardens and common area are clean and well maintained Coming to food I took breakfast and dinner which was part of package. Breakfast was good but needs variety as it was repetitive. Dinner was ok and needs improvement as it was not in line with the prices. checkout was also ok but can be improved as billing should be accurate and fast.     As usual, Its just perfect . In all aspects its truly STERLING. Once you have chosen Sterling FernHill for your holidays , rest assured its the right choice. I must say that after merger with Thomas Cook ,there has been a tremendous change.Right from the time you speak to the booking consultant (1-800-300-02727) you are made to feel welcome and they are eager to accomodate you as much as possible and that itself sets you in the right mood for your travel plans. Now, about FERNHILL. Every time I have visited this particular resort , I have found it the best and this time was no different. On arriving , Mr. Wajid and Ms. Mamata (very efficient very helpful) at front desk made the check-in process so easy and they were really very helpful in allocating our prefered rooms.Best part being they never rush you in giving whatever vacant rooms are visible on their computer screen but instead they even considered the rooms being getting vacated in some time , for which waiting for a little while is no big deal. I must mention Ms. Prateeka too at the front desk , she is so cheerful that she made us forget all our journey tiredness.Interestingly the entire reception staff is very young and so very receptive to your requirements.They serve you with a wide smile on their faces and that makes all the difference. The rooms are very very well maintained , the wash rooms are tip-top,the geysers working perfectly , no issues about power failure, room service is excellent with immediate responses ( i asked for some extra coffee and tea sachets and was sent immediately ) Now about food - the buffet spreads are quite good but i felt the prices are a little on higher side specially if you are a group of 8/10 persons you probably wont be happy spending 8 - 10 thousand bucks on a meal. Comparatively , if you choose A-la-Carte , the rates are quite reasonable and the food quality and quantity excellent . I must thank Chef. Vikram, who specially came to enquire about our food requirement and served us with some excellent and top class dishes of our choice which were not even mentioned in the menu. Truly Sterling Ferhill surpasses our expectations , best part being its getting better and better. Room : - We lived in room nos 1401 and 1403 towards children play area and found them very suitable for our requirement. Rooms near to lower parking area are also very peaceful , well- maintaind with excellent valley views. The mid-way rooms are mostly duplex , kichenette being down stairs. All in all , Fernhill is a perfect choice with a small set back of approach road being quite rough and broken at places.Being about 3-4 klms away from the city, its better to have your own vehicle as ready availabity of autos/cabs is not there....     I have been a time share holder of Sterling Holiday Resorts ever since 1985 and also of RCI and of late the quality of their resorts have improved tremendously. While the resorts were built by Sterling who own them the facilities earlier as well as the maintenance was not as good as it is now. I had last stayed at Fern Hill (they have 2 resorts in Ooty and both are good) about 3 years back and had enjoyed it very much. However, this time it was really outstanding. The rooms were very comfortable and the overall service was excellent. The food in their restaurant/ dining room was very good and my wife and myself enjoyed the stay tremendously. I am abroad for almost six months in a year, and this year during the summer I was in USA, so we utilised the time share during December and Ooty, which is the highest hill station in South India at a height of about 7500 ft. above sea level or 2200 metres has a charm of its own in winter. With the fine cold weather and the service we got in Fern Hill we had a really good time. While all departments of the resort are very good, I would like to make a special mention of the Food & Beverage department , headed by Chef Ravi, and the front office, headed by Ravindra and Dy. Manager, Domnic along with the girls at the reception, Pratika and Mamta. The housekeeping department was very efficient and Leena was always willing to help in any manner. The resort manager, Rajib was very friendly and cooperative and I had the pleasure of meeting their Regional Manager, Dileep Nair who was also visiting. Both the resorts of Sterling, Fern Hill and Elk Hill are among the Gold Crown Resorts of RCI and we now look forward to our next visit in the near future!... More

    Hi All... Had an awesome stay here in sterling Fernhill.. Special recognition their manager Dominic.. should say he is man of substance and very well behaved .. he ensured that we had a smooth stay here and made all things comfortable for us.. If at all I happen to be in Ooty again.. that would be in sterling Fernhill and only for Dominic...... More

Ooty- Fern Hill, A Sterling Holiday Resort offers the beauteous sight of the Nilgiris. Surrounded by gigantic mountains, this hotel is about 3 km from Ooty Lake, and its each room offers beautiful sight. It accommodates a total of 177 spacious rooms that are categorized as Classic, Premiere Suite and Privilege Suite. The rooms are equipped with attached bathroom, and housekeeping service is provided to all. A staff at the travel desk provides vehicle arrangement for sightseeing and transportation. It has a multi-cuisine restaurant. To add more, its coffee shop (24-hour) serves a wide selection of beverages. A club for indoor games is present in the property, and it has a play area for kid. The hotel can be easily be reached from Ooty Railway Station (2 km), and Ooty Bus Station (2 km). Rose Garden is 4 km and Deer Park is 1 km away from the hotel.

Hotel Check-in Time is 12 PM, Check-out Time is 10 AM.

  5. Hotels charge a compulsory Gala Dinner Supplement during Christmas, New Year's eve or other special events and festivals like Diwali or Dusshera. These additional charge are not included in the booking amount and will be collected directly at the hotel.
  6. There might be seasonal variation in hotel tariff rates during Peak days, for example URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, the room tariff differences if any will have to be borne and paid by the customer directly at the hotel, if the booking stay period falls during such dates.
  7. All additional charges other than the room charges and inclusions as mentioned in the booking voucher are to be borne and paid separately during check-out. Please make sure that you are aware of all such charges that may comes as extras. Some of them can be WiFi costs, Mini Bar, Laundry Expenses, Telephone calls, Room Service, Snacks etc.
  8. Some hotels may have policies that do not allow unmarried / unrelated couples or certain foreign nationalities to check-in without the correct documentation.   11. In case of increase in tariff during the URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, the customer is liable to pay the difference if the Check-in date falls during those periods.
