Nice place, great views at a budget price.

I stayed at Mountain Dew for 5 nights in late Oct 2018.
The room itself was basic but very clean and comfortable consisting of a king size bed (2 singles pushed together), and a good bathroom with hot water.
The hotel is located in the main street but wasn’t too noisy up in old Manali. The town was starting to wind down and at least half the shops and restaurants in the area were closed, but those that remained open were quite good.
The views from the shared balconies is just incredible. I had a 3rd floor room which was perfect because of the view. This hotel is built into the side of a steep incline and the balconies on the upper floors are quite private because you aren’t visible from the street.
I enjoyed my time at Mountain Dew. A nice place, fantastic views at a budget price.
Good for the price!

It's basic accommodation, but the view is incredible. So if you're not picky about where you sleep and want to be centrally located, this is the place for you. Also, old Manali is best - good food, great ambiance, and the view is best. Also it is pretty safe, there are a lot of foreigners
Okay for the price

The place looked awesome from outside. However, the rooms were a different story. The washroom had a window which was directly in front of other buildings, hence we had to cover it with a cloth Everytime we used the washroom. The water supply was fine, the mirrors were a bit dirty, but it's just a small thing. The food was fine, however, the price was on the higher side. You can better rooms for such a price!
Mountain Dew Guest House

I stayed at this guest house for 6 nights in feb 2018. Unfortunately for the first 4 days I was very sick. However this was probably the best place I could have possibly been sick. The rooms were huge with big double beds and big windows looking out over the valley. The views were extremely good and the price was really good because of the low season. The man working there was possibly the best person I met on all of my Indian travels. He did absolutely everything by himself all day. His cooking at the attached 'spice 'n' ice' restaurant was absolutely delicious and was exactly what I needed to get through the bad stomach. The location was also awesome, because it was very quiet with a few general stores and a laundry and a short walk from a few temples. Overall this was probably the best place I stayed in all of India and Nepal would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Old Manali!
nice clean rooms with reasonable prices

I had purposely decided to stay in old manali hotel as hotels here are away from the hustle and bustle of new manali and I am happy with the decision I made. I was allotted a room on the first floor of the hotel from where you get breathtaking views of mountain tops. During peak season i.e. June I got the room for Rs.1000. Biggest attraction of this hotel is that it is surrounded by trees and natural surroundings. The room was worth the money as it was spacious and clean and toilet bathroom was also clean. Only thing is that this place is far away from main manali and for food we had to take an auto to main manali. There are several other hotels in the vicinity of this hotel. This hotel also has a restaurant however the dinner which had ordered from this hotel was not tasty and one should avoid ordering dishes from this restaurant. I will also advise travelers not to travel to manali in peak summer season of JUNE as we encountered massive jams during our travel to rohtang pass and manikaran and what should have taken 5-6 hours took entire day. Overall I will strongly recommend this hotel for stay in manali as its good value for money. I will also like to thank Lonely Planet for recommending this hotel which turned out to be the right choice for us.
