A good hotel for short trip

This is going to give you a feel of living in a heritage palace. The ambience will be enduring and people are very good at service. Hence it was overall a very nice stay. Advisable to people for staying at this beautiful heritage hotel.
Not good staff assistance

Location is good but management assistant is not good. When I reached the hotel for stay they me to wait and we waited for about an hour. And than they provide me a clean room. They should have provided an alternative room.
Quiet Compound. Very helpful host. Good location for Science City/Chinatown.

We stayed in an apartment here for almost a week and were very comfortable there. Aditya was a friendly and very helpful host. This is the kind of place that you will appreciate if you are familiar with Indian housing or you are looking to stay in a typical Indian apartment (with TV, a/c, WiFi comforts) in a middle class Calcutta neighborhood. If you are looking for a new, pristine Marriot/Hilton Hotel type place or cute boutique B&B, this is not the place for you.
The apartment was very reasonably priced. Aditya was a great host, with excellent, prompt communication before and after we arrived. He lives in the same apartment complex. On request he arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport and even with our middle of the night arrival met us at the door. Aditya’s apartments are in a compound of older high rise residential apartment houses within a quiet walled gated compound with a security guard, the quiet being quite a nice contrast with the very busy street outside the gates. Know that the apartments are in better condition than the building exterior and lobbies/hallways which show the wear and tear of this tropical climate and chronic air pollution/soot which is to be expected. There was an elevator to our 5th floor 2 BR, 2 BA apartment which had a view, a balcony and lots of light. There was a TV in each room and good WiFi. Nice simple furnishings. The beds were firm and comfortable; there were fans and a/c in each room. (We did not need to use the a/c in February.) Bathrooms are typical Indian style (drain in the floor), but with western toilets and on-demand water heaters for hot showers. The kitchen is also a basic Indian kitchen with gas cook stove, microwave, sink, refrigerator, and sufficient cookware, plates, cutlery etc. to make some meals. Kitchen had jug of commercially filtered water and Aditya provided some bottled water on arrival. There is a little garden in the compound that children play in. There are taxis outside the gate or down the street. The upscale Quest Mall is about 2-3 km away. We chose this apartment in order to be close to Science City. It is only about a km away or a 30 INR taxi ride if on the meter. Also walking distance around the corner to Chinatown. Aditya has been full of good advice for us for navigating the neighborhood and he arranged for having our laundry done, etc. On the street outside are little stalls with snack foods, and some other basics. We have stayed in many places in India over the years and really appreciated this apartment for the quiet and security, the very helpful host, the comforts mentioned above, and the handy location close to Science City where we were attending a conference.
