Our home in Delhi!!!
on Sep 6, 2017
This hotel is our home in Delhi!! The staff is really helpful and nice and the top roof restaurant is great. I travel on business every year with my mum and I always go back to Metropolis... it´s an oasis in Paharganj!!! Fresh food and cold beer in a very cozy terrace. The rooms are clean and the shower and AC work very good. Last year we both got very sick at the same time and the staff provided a doctor right away. They were asking all the time how we were feeling and help us in everything we needed... Really helpful and we will always be grateful. That´s why we always go back!!!
Best hotel in Paharganj!

My partner and I have been traveling North India for 3 months and used Delhi as our base for getting to and from other places.
We ended up staying here at Hotel Metropolis Tourist Home on 3 separate occasions and each time was fantastic!
Location - situated on Main Bazaar Rd in Paharganj... amidst all the hustle and bustle this place is a sanctuary to go back to after exploring the streets and sights of Delhi. It's such a busy and noisy area but we never heard a thing from outside on all of our stays apart from one night of mad thunder and lightning... but we went on to the balcony to enjoy it! You are a short walk from many restaurants, bars, shops, markets ans New Delhi train station (beware for touts if you are a foreign tourist - go straight upstairs to the Foreign Tourist Bureau and do not entertain anyone with conversation or you WILL get taken advantage of!)
Rooms - The rooms are clean and spacious with big windows to let in natural light. They have Wi-Fi, TV, A/C, huge shower (with hot water!!), a retractable clothes washing line, a fridge and 1 bottle of complimentary mineral water. There are also chairs, tables and a desk. On two of our visits our room wasn't quite ready but at no extra cost the staff upgraded us to the super deluxe rooms.
Restaurant - the restaurant has a huuuge menu with many different cuisines. We ordered a selection of dishes and everything came out hot, fresh and delicious! The prices are a little higher than what we like to spend on dining out but it was worth it so no complaints. In Paharganj there are many rooftop restaurants of a shoddy standard but this is decorated so pleasantly and is also very clean and appealing.
Staff - the whole team here are superb! They really should pride themselves on their customer service skills as it is some of the best that we have experienced in India ever! Nothing at all is too much trouble! Everyone is extremely polite, helpful and genuine. There is an older lady and an older gentleman who can be found behind reception and they are both so fantastic and are happy to help you with anything you need. The restaurant staff are also very well trained and attentive. There is also a travel desk where you can book trains, buses and taxis without being ripped off like in many hotels.
We would definitely return back here in a heartbeat and would urge anyone else in the area to book a room here while in Delhi. Fantastic value for money and amazing customer service.
Best hotel in Paharganj!

Poor hotel, very overpriced for the area within which it is located. Bedsheets were stained, the room did not feel secure at all, the whole floor had a power cut after which my door was wide open. Told the night staff who didn't know why a power cut had happened and my door was open, was told to speak to the manager and check cctv in the morning. They themselves didn't know how to operate the CCTV, would strongly suggest avoiding this hotel and area altogether.
Good basic hotel

The room given did have a balcony on to the very noisy bazaar below. It was an initiation of fire to the noise and pollution of Delhi, however we enjoyed it for that very reason!
The room was basic, indian cleanliness with towels that were so hard was like using sandpaper. Although train booking services, money exchange etc were advertised we were just told where we could go and find them! However the rooftop restaurant was good with a good choice. Staff were friendly, especially in restaurant. We still had to pay for a night we wanted to cancel the day before. A good backpacker choice though.
