Cosy heritage feel.

We stayed for 4 nights at Mateus and really enjoyed it. The interior is very nice and designed with loads of detail. Staff was helpful and friendly...
The hotel’s location is perfectly set in the middle of the Latin Quarter and you can do everything on foot. Not too noisy at night, so we’d definitely recommend staying here.
Happy, pleasant & homely stay at a boutique hotel in Panjim
on Jan 30, 2018
Location - is the best in town as this area has so many beautiful and colourful Portuguese style homes and cute cafe's around. I took a round of the hotel rooms and all are very pretty and have earthy patterned floors. Close to this place there are many things to do in this area i.e. restaurants, promenade to walk around, casinos, cruises, petrol pump, Bookshop, churches. A variety of things which you can do at a walking distance and not get bored.
Room - I got the ground floor stay which was nearer to the reception, common space to eat breakfast. My room balcony was facing their little garden with a small pool which made it even more pleasant. Opposite my room was the kitchen so the only problem I faced was the pressure cooker sounds when they make breakfast at 6 am in the morning. Apart from that, there is no noise at all. Very comfortable beds, hygienic and clean bathrooms.
Amenities - Very clean baths and linen. The things in the room were well planned. Either side of the bed have charging plugs, the bathroom is well lit especially ladies need more lights for dressing up ;) It also had a basic fridge, working table with a lamp. Section to keep your bags and clothes to be hung neatly. TV, phone, mosquito repellent. They provide a lock and key too! They do not have a cafe or in-house restaurant but if you want to eat something you can order from the restaurant next door to the hotel or step out and find plenty of cafes around. The only issue I faced was network and Internet. I had to step out of my room and sit in the hotel lobby for using the internet or call anyone.
The hotel staff was very courteous and always smiling and wishing you a good day and Mr. Raj who handles the operations was always very helpful and sweet.
Very Good - needs a couple of things to be excellent

Plus points - fantastic location in oldest and most historic part of Panjim. Building beautifully restored with some wonderful touches - especially the tall windows with upper and lower shutters. Very comfortable bed, good quality linen and bathroom toiletries. Raj was a great host - helpful and knowledgeable. Please tell the young helper that a smile goes a long way as he always seemed pretty miserable.
Not so good - No kettle in the room. Whilst I appreciate that tea/coffee making facilities were available downstairs, carrying boiling water up steep stairs was dangerous and the provisions (tea bags, cups etc) often ran out. We ended up keeping cups in our room. Whilst a kettle may jar against the aesthetics of the room this could and should be re-addressed. Couldn't access wifi whilst there.
Nice hotel, service can be improved

Hotel has lovely atmosphere. It was good to see an authentic mansion well restored, saving the local heritage. Rather good location, in the old quarter, near to the cathedral, in a quiet neighbourhood. The hotel should consider improving service, being a bit more attentive to clients and making sure that an English speaking person is always available. Especially during breakfast service.
Peaceful, Pleasant stay in the middle of old town

I have stayed here for 2 days with Family. The Hotel is beautiful(Heritage), very comfortable to stay. We were very happy to stay here. Various eateries are near by and all of the old town is accessible. The staff at Hotel are very courteous and helpful. Nice Place for any one to go back in time.
