Lovely old building but unkempt rooms making for a slightly uncomfortable stay
    on Jan 22, 2019
Pros: This heritage building is absolutely gorgeous. The lobby is divine and the architecture is classic. The roof terrace is really lovely (better not to eat here), and there are lots of little nooks for sitting and relaxing. The staff are really nice and friendly. The bathrooms are newly renovated and there is hot water WITH PRESSURE! Cons: Unfortunately the rooms were a bit of a sorry state. There were bare electrical wires coming out from the top of walls, the rugs were filthy, the sheets had holes in them and were pilling. The blankets are reused between guests without washing, and are made of nasty polar fleece type material. The beds are made of unfinished plywood with a thin mattress on top. We selected a non A/C room given it was winter when we stayed, but that just meant we didn't have heating, and the nights were as cold as 7 degrees outside. The rooms being made of marble meant that we were chilly day or night. The window also looked out onto construction rubbish, and there were workers doing building works late at night. Would recommend earplugs. Don't eat at the restaurant. We waited over an hour for cold and greasy naan bread, an overly sweetened lassi, but quite nice Malai kofta. Unfortunately the staff forgot our eggplant Curry and when it arrived, it turned out to be inedible. It tasted like a fireplace it was so smokey. Overall: decent value for money. If you aren't fussy, you'll be happy enough here, but maybe best to opt for the deluxe room with heating if staying during winter. This could be an absolutely fantastic hotel with a couple of small changes, like new sheets towels and pillows. I'm pretty sure they are working on implementing these changes so maybe by mid 2019, the new and improved krishna palace will be wonderful.... More

Krishna Palace is much more a HoStel than a Hotel.
    on Jan 17, 2019
It’s close to the train station, so that helps with the neighborhood. But it's really a hoStel so bring your own sleeping bag and avoid touching the dirty sheets and bed. If you have a choice of 2 twin beds or 1 queen bed, what they mean is do you want 2 twin beds separated or pushed together. Either way the come with separate sheets (top sheet is 1 meter wide as is the bed), which by the way, you have to put on the bed (that’s right when you check-in your bed isn’t made). I stayed 3 nights and my room was cleaned 0 times; my bed of course was made 0 times by the hote!. Of course no cleaning when guests are there leads to dirty everything…floors, sheets, bathroom. Like many hostels there are parties that escape rooms and end up in the shared areas. So sleeping can be difficult especially if you have to rise early. Bring ears plugs. There’s also a remodel in progress, so hard to sleep because of parties (and staff does nothing and early wake up to pounding on walls). The staff makes many promises and then doesn’t keep any. For example, when I left laundry in the morning, they said it would be back that evening. It wasn’t. I had a train to catch the next day and was worried. The staff said they would call and get by the time I woke up. In the morning, no one had called. Staff then says they will send someone to get it before my train. Nope. When I asked why they said they were busy. Eventually, I had to either miss train (1493 row) or surrender 905 of the clothes I packed. I had to miss train. Then I was told after breakfast they would have time, but no, no they didn’t . It was change the front staff and I started over again with a promise. Eventually it arrived at 22:15 a day late. And I had to pay for another night at the dump. The manager said it wasn’t their fault. Wow. Cannot recommend... More

Reasonably quiet location but quick access to the city. The accommodation is ok and certainly within expectation for the budget. Take a day trip to visit the forts etc with one of the drivers from the hotel.... More
