Comfortable but Noisy
on Dec 12, 2017
Munnar is a picturesque little town nestled in the beautiful tea plantations and mountains. Despite this it is still, like so much of India; loud and chaotic. Jays
Tourist Home is perfectly situated in the town with panoramic views across the valley, taking in the mountains, mosque, Hindu temple and the church used as a location in 'The Life of Pi'. This position also makes it noisy. Traffic, festivals and political propaganda fill the day and night air. The accommodation itself is comfortable, very clean and friendly. By Indian standards of accommodation it is quite good. There is no breakfast or meals available on premises at the time of year I was there and no refrigeration in room if you intend to self cater. Many nearby food options though. Air conditioned, so keep the doors closed to minimise the many mosquitoes.
GOOD CHOICE TO STAY
on Dec 8, 2017
Best and Safe place to stay with family. Good management, rooms are maintained very neat and hygienic. Room rates are reasonable. Situated at nice location. Many veg/non-veg hotels are nearby. Good arrangements for site seeings. It is the Best & Wise choice.
Value for money

The stay at this place was awesome with the room provided to us overlooking the Munnar town . It is situated very near the Munnar town. Restaurants, shops were at a walkable distance. Room service was exemplary. The reception was courteous and professional. They also provided with sight seeing package which was worth every penny. The rates for the room and the sight seeing were really good and reasonable for the service provided. I and my family enjoyed our stay there. I strongly recommend this place.

We came to this guest house without booking in the evening. Didn't have big
choice of accommodation in munnar, as everything was booked already.
They charged us 3000 rs. Room was nice, but floor was dirty. When we informed reception they said it's not dirty, it's just colouring. When we ordered coffee from room service, guy came with plastic bag and inside had flask and paper cups, he poor coffee inside the room and put flask into the bag. This hotel is run by amateurs. It's not expensive to buy a tray and cups and serve it properly.
We wanted to stay in munnar one more night and been afraid of looking for different hotel for another 3 hrs so we wanted to extend our stay here. Receptionist told us he won't give us this room so cheap again (he didn't give us any discount previously), so we rather left this accommodation.
I don't recommend this guest house at all. Rather look for something else.
Decent place for staying with family

The staff were courteous and very helpful. Being a newcomer to the place, they guided us properly. Priced at an affordable rent I shall recommend this place for anyone visiting Munnar with family. Negative side of my trip: very hard to find a vegetarian restaurant with only one decent veg hotel named Saravana Bhavan. They serve good stuff but the waiting time during peak hours will certainly test your patience.
