Breakfast above the clouds :)

Had the most amazing time staying here for 5 nights with my wife (we liked it so much we extended our trip by a night). The cottages are beautiful and super comfortable and clean. The staff, especially Kedar and Deepak, are extremely polite and courteous and ensure you feel right at home. The food is very tasty and homely and we had all our meals by the fire place in the outdoors. The views too are breathtaking. All in all a place not to be missed, 10/10. Also, shows that the owner (Rita Sawhney) has great taste. Can't wait for our next visit.

From the time you check-in to the time you check -out - it's like homecoming and that sudden pain of separation. There is no " welcome back Mr x , can we use your credit card for just the guarantee and "Monika will escort you to your room" overload. Instead there's a mother , a friend who is anxious about your arrival, staff that are happy to see you and genuine smiles from a happy family.
The estate itself is like the homestead of the yesteryears; idyllic views of the valley, blooms in all possible shades and hues and bric a brac casually strewn around that gives the feeling that you checked in at home .
Rita is a fantastic hostess - reminds me of Ms Olga Dcruz at Wiston cottage , DGH Kalimpong - tough and gentle love on a metric balancing scale.
However the best part is they are pet friendly and with Scout , our hyper Siberian Husky we were a lil concerned - but the Manager KD Singh and his team managed everything seamlessly.
Lastly- the home cooked food!!! No fancy French cuisine but really tasty , wholesome portions of all of my favourite things. Rita is blessed to have such a versatile chef!
I recommend everyone of my friends to get a feel of home , away from home.
Our only concern - were we the model guests? Let Rita decide!
Mesmerising mountain view, poor customer service

Dates: 11/12th June 2017
Location: 5 stars - This place offers probably the best view of the Auramah valley, situated 1 km from the Naldehra stop. It is away from the hustle bustle of the city and gives you a serene, majestic view of the hills. The property is well maintained and almost all the cottages offer a nice view of the valley.
Rooms: 3 stars - We stayed in the Apricot cottage. The room is spacious and nicely done with great view of the valley and hills. However the bed was not comfortable - it is basically two single beds joined to make a double bed. Also if you are 6 foot+ then your feet will hang out. The level of cleanliness in the toilet too could be improved.
Food: 2 stars - We struggled with the food options and quality. The breakfast options were limited - fruits, poha, bread omelette on the first day and fruits, chilla, bread omlette on the second day. This clearly needs improvement.
Service: 2 stars - This is a home stay, so obviously you don't expect extraordinary service. But even for a homestay you do expect basic service response. On first day the breakfast was served at 9.30 am, half hour after we waited. Same experience on the dinner and the second day breakfast. This property is managed by a two member team who are running round the clock to do everything from room cleaning to cooking food. Must say they are doing a great job within their capacity.
Overall value: 3 stars- This place undoubtedly offers you a great view and serene stay. But for a premium price tag, you do expect basic service quality.
Jacaranda Estate is more and more spectacular !
on Jun 5, 2017
I love India and I visit regularly “Incredible India “ !
From Paris I have been going for more than 40 years !
This year, in order to avoid the heat in Delhi in April (44 Degrees Celsius ! )
I decided to relax and enjoy the cool air in the foothills of the Himalaya (25 Degrees Celsius).
I was curious to spend some time at the place I discovered 4 years ago :
Jacaranda Estate in Naldhera, close to Shimla.
I was so enchanted in 2013 and now in April 2017
I found it even more spectacular with a lot of sophisticated improvements :
new cottages, new gazebo, new cute hidden places with benches and hammocks,
new fireplace, etc.
Above all is the constant romantic ambiance day and night.
Thousands of different flowers and plants are blossoming everywhere
in exquisite gardens.
The magic continues at night with very refined and soft lights.
Breakfast and dinner are always very tasty and served by an efficient staff.
You can do many activities : lovely walks in the woods, horse riding, water rafting,
also an amazing golf course nearby.
Enjoy relaxing, dreaming, reading books under the gazebo, in these impressive surroundings.
Last but not least, you can appreciate a bonfire during dinner
(it’s a must and it cost only 500 Rupees extra )
I met again with great pleasure the owner of this estate, Mrs Rita Sawhney, a charming Lady
full of life who can give you a lot of good advice ( she was a travel photo journalist
and she can even guide you for astrophotography at night ! )
Her manager Kedar Singh is always very helpful.
I spent 5 happy days at the new very comfortable suite “wild apricot “.
No doubt I will definitely return to Jacaranda Estate !
It’s paradise throughout the year

Jacaranda estate ia very cozy and warm property, tastefully done up, with a hands on staff, and food cooked lovingly, and with a personal touch.
The view of the valley is very picturesque and the different levels of the cottages, very aesthetic.
Mrs. Rita is a fantantastic host !!
Altogether an inviting experience.
