Susan and Jay's hospitality and kindness made for an unforgettable time in Goa.

I booked a lunch at the Island House for a group of 16 Americans as part of a day tour booked through the Grand Hyatt. Before we arrived, Susan and Jay asked about dietary restrictions, and when we arrived they had prepared an amazing spread that everyone in our group could eat. This was so thoughtful and special given that we had one person allergic to dairy, and one person allergic to nuts, which made going out to a restaurant in India very stressful. It was the best meal we had on our trip. Spending a couple hours there was such a peaceful respite from a hectic day, and Susan and Jay really made us feel at home. It is such a lovely location and I only wish we could have stayed there longer.
We were having problems with our debit card and weren't able to withdraw any cash to pay for the lunch. They pointed us to the nearest ATM and made a list of banks for us to try, but our account locked and we were unable to access any money while on the island. Susan and Jay were so kind that they asked us to make a bank transfer once we returned to the states and not to worry about it while we were on our trip. I will always remember their hospitality and kindness.
Wonderful Homestay Experience

I spent three nights in Island House at the end of my stay in Goa. I could not have asked for a better place to not only unwind but also to see the sights of Panjim and Old Goa.
Tucked on a residential street on a quiet island on the Mandovi River, Island House is a beautiful Portuguese colonial style house owned and run by Jay and Susan, who make everyone feel like a guest in their own home. It was not only a wonderful properly but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Not only is the food delicious, the rooms spacious and airy, the grounds beautifully maintained but one´s every need is looked after. Jay and Susan not only helped me plan my onwards bookings by train and plane but also found me a stitcher to make a dress from material I bought! It was the most extraordinary level of care and service, making my stay very special.
In terms of location, the island is rural and quiet, yet a short boat ride away from Old Goa and a slightly longer boat and car journey away from Panjim. Taxis are easily arranged and one can also walk to the ferry terminal oneself if one wanted some exercise (about 30 minute walk) to do Old Goa by foot. Nearby there, is one of the oldest Christian churches in India, perched on a hill and providing the most extraordinary sunset view and in the neighbourhood one finds restored as well as decayed old Portuguese colonial style houses - going for a short walk is therefore a bit of an adventure in and of itself.
It was a great stay and I can only recommend a visit

Was here for a Writers Retreat for 5 nights. And fell in love with the place. Wonderful staff, lovely ambience, good food. The most important thing was the warmth of everybody here.
It's far from the beaches, but has its own charm, with the river and old Goa a 5 minute drive away.
If you want a homestay feel, in a lovely Portugese style villa - this is it!!
A Beautiful house in a great location.

We called in here whilst on Divar Island. A beautifully maintained house, tranquil location with a large private pool in the rear garden. Would be a great place to unwind. The staff were first class and so was the food. Thanks again!
