Gutted even before my stay with you could begin.

I feel gutted to think that I chose your hospitality over several other brands that would have treated me better.
While making reservations, I made an error. I admitted it in the first go.
While the room i booked was a non-refundable one (since i was certain of my stay), I called the hotel to add breakfast in the tariff. The first manager (Ebenezer) on duty did everything he could to help resolve my query.
The moment I got off the call, my fiancé called to say that he had also made reservations in the same hotel.
So I immediately (with 2 hours of the booking)called the hotel as well as the online booking agent to request to cancel my reservation. It was a genuine mistake made by me for booking the room in error. And I hoped that if not from a business point of view but from human/guest experience point of view Hyatt would be kind enough to let go of this one reservation since I specifically mentioned umpteen number of times that that particular weekend is going to be a special weekend in my life - IT BEING MY ENGAGEMENT WEEKEND.
However the manager(Divanshu) on duty last night was not only rude (his tone was loud and irritated, I had to ask him to calm his tone down) but also said that he was not the decision maker and that I would have to call back next morning (today)to speak to another manager in order for him to look into this matter.
I have gone back and forth on calls and email to get this rectified and Hyatt did not deal with it appropriately. Not one person called to understand the situation or explore options for a middle ground.
I gave up at one point since they are going to charge me for the room anyway I feel forced to continue with my reservation and stay at Hyatt after such a horrible experience.
Some occasions in life don't occur twice. You sure have made it negative for me even before it could begin.
I am certain to not give you any business(as mere the amount might seem to you) after this stay.
Hyatt- you claim yourselves to be a brand that provides world class experience in hospitality. So here are my questions to you:
1. why do you not have decision makers on Duty especially on a day like Christmas?
2. What is more important to you- money or guest experience?
3. Do you inculcate empathy in the training provided to your employees?
4. Do you understand the phrase: To err is human.
5. Are your policies carved on stone, for you to not be able to make changes in genuine cases?
I am so not looking forward to your hospitality.

Though their breakfast buffet is decent the executive lounge food is awful. Room was clean and has a nice layout but smelled kinda moldy. The worse problem is the thin walls and I could hear the room next door, the wedding in their backyard, and music from the lobby (and I was on the 9th floor!!!). ... More

Our family of 3 enjoyed our stay in Hyatt recently. We were there for a short vacation. The room was spacious (able to accommodate an additional bed) and comfortable. We had daily buffet breakfast that had a good spread. Great customer service. Will recommend staying here.... More
