Elegant villa in a lush garden
on Aug 10, 2017
This hotel stands out against all other hotels in the neighborhood - it is beautiful, elegant, hidden in the shadows of the trees and drowning in flowers. The quiet music playing in the garden and the bar area adds to the atmosphere.
The common areas have a true historic residence look, with the paintings on the walls, the original decor elements, the carpets, the furniture and the grand piano. The rooms are simpler, but nice too.
The breakfast was ok and the dinners were very tasty. The wine collection at the hotel is impressive.
It was mentioned on the booking website that the rooms require renovation and they do. First and foremost it relates to air conditioners - they need servicing. In one of the rooms (we relocated in the middle of our stay) the hairdryer was held together with scotch tape and the shower hose was leaking.
I must mention that the first days of our stay were overshadowed by us being placed in the wrong room. We were traveling with our 7-year old son, and I deliberately booked a quadruple room for us to have more space. Not a double with an extra bed, but a room for four which was illustrated on the hotel website as having two areas separated by a door. The rate difference between triple and quadruple rooms at the time I made the booking was around EUR 40-50 per night. At check-in manager Paola showed us into a rather small room with almost no space between the main bed and the extra bed. When we complained she showed us another room which looked cozier but was still very small. All this time she kept assuring us that this was what a quadruple room looked like. We agreed to stay there although the room was definitely unsuitable for more than two people - the extra bed made it impossible to open the cupboards.
Two days later we decided to request a rate reduction as our rate was way too high for where we were staying. Luckily, we were told by Cesare that we would be moved to the room we had booked. From that moment on our stay was pure bliss and I keep wondering what prevented Paola from saying simply that the room we had booked was unavailable for three nights, apologizing and promising a discount (which we received at check-out).
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Club I Pini is a unique place with wonderful ambiance, and Nicola and Cesare are nice and charming people, as many reviewers have mentioned. I can confidently recommend the hotel to couples. If you travel as a family, it makes sense to write to the hotel beforehand and make sure you get the room you want.
Former private villa with extremely pleasant young owners.

A former villa owned by the artist Galileo Chini and his family. Now owned and managed by two charming and helpful young brothers. Air conditioned and free wifi, also available are bikes at no cost. The hotel has a fairly large sheltered garden where breakfast, lunch and dinner is normally served. It seems to have very reasonably priced set menus, changed daily, although we ate out with friends. The beach runs for miles, with Viareggio and Lido di Camiore being essentially contiguous. Cut price rates are available at two very good bagnios associated with this hotel, much cheaper and just as good as the neighbouring ones just 100 m along the beach at Viareggio. Parking is a problem in both Viareggio and Lido di Camiore and the roads back from the beach are narrow, one-way and crowded in the summer, but this hotel has its own parking areas on either side of the hotel gardens. Entrances are narrow and easily missed, but the brothers will park and manoeuvre your car at short notice. If you're just going to the beach then you won't need your car, but it is well worth visiting surrounding attractions, like Pietrasanta - the village famous for its sculpture studios using local marble. Best visited in the evening, when it really comes alive. Parking there is very easy and it is only a few miles inland from Lido. Also worth visiting is Puccini's summer home at Terre dal Lago.
Another Excellent Stay at Residenza D'Epoca

We have stayed at the hotel many times and never disappointed. The hotel has everything you could wish for with comfortable rooms, cleanliness and oozes charm and elegance. It is ideal for a beach or sightseeing holiday as Lucca, Florence, Cinque Terre, Garfagnana are all within an easy drive.
Nicola, Cesare and all of the staff offer a warm welcome and ensure your stay is enjoyable, relaxing and nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast is substantial and dinner is served every evening in the garden by candlelight. The food is authentic Tuscan and is freshly prepared to a very high standard accompanied by excellent wine. Food and wine are moderately priced and excellent value.
It is a truly memorable experience
Unique experience in Tuscany

My husband and I stayed at Club I Pini on friends recommendation for 10 days at beginning of June. We were not disappointed. Hotel well placed for visiting surrounding area, set in beautiful gardens a short walk from beach and promenade. Our room was traditional, spacious and clean. The highlight for us was pre dinner drinks/snacks in the garden every evening with other guests before a delicious dinner with great service.
Had a very relaxing holiday thanks to Nicola, Cesare and all the staff. Will definitely return in the future.

For a weekend in Tuscany coast we stayed at the Pini Hotel. A great experience thanks to the hotel staff always available.
The hotel is about 300 meters from the sea and located in a quiet location without traffic.
Great restaurant cuisine.
Thanks to Nicola Cesare and all the staff
