    Peaceful Stay
    on Nov 14, 2019
Absolutely beautiful ambiance and clean rooms on quiet street. Front desk and restaurant staff were polite, friendly and accommodating. Breakfast dishes were delicious and there was lots of variety each day. Enjoyed a lunch and dinner on rooftop restaurant. Dinner included traditional music and dance performance. Overall a great stay and good value for the money.... More

Helpful with the small things that makes the customer feel valued
    on Nov 10, 2019
The staff at Umaid is friendly and accomodating. They went out of their way to help us with: 1. Organising an 1am local time pick up at the airport 2. Offered to help when a personal delivery did not arrive at the hotel 3. Provided a power adapter to our Australian devices so we could charge our phones. Plus along with entire estate having a traditional Indian decor, this made our stay very enjoyable.... More

    An experience
    on Nov 10, 2019
We stayed here Sunday till Tuesday after breakfast a week ago. I felt as if I had been transported to a different era upon arrival. The Umaid Mahal looks very ornate and distinctive upon first inspection, and it is compared to the other hotels we had visited during our India trip. The rooms were mainly clean and traditional, although I did find my bathroom very small and rather dated. Looking from toilet to sink the area could have been cleaner. A few qtips and bleach would sort it out! The outdoor pool is very small and runs off the downstairs dining room, there is a netting over the top of the roof area which I assume is to keep the pigeons, of which there are many, out of the pool area. The same has to be said of small balcony area, that also is covered in netting. I didn’t have a balcony and my view was of a block of flats and car park so I kept my curtains closed all day as it wasn’t particularly attractive. I stayed in room 503 and my daughter and family were in 501. Safes in both bedrooms didn’t work and the duty manager couldn’t fix mine so I had to use my daughter’s. That wouldn’t open next day and it took me having to go down to office (after waiting from 7-9) and fetch duty manager to open it. This was done in seconds flat! So how safe is the safe? Roof top dining area is pleasant in the evening and the food was very nice indeed, the mutton curry I had first night was one of the tastiest I had the whole trip. Breakfast was in downstairs restaurant and it was adequate but not great. Coffee and tea on second day came off hot plate cold! That all said, the staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Floors and communal areas were being cleaned constantly and the young men doing it were very sweet when we walked over their hard work. I hope this is constructive for the hotel as it is not intended as complaints, I am aware they cannot do anything about the situ of the hotel but the little things matter and are very easily sorted....
