REMEMBRANCE OF GENTLER TIMES
on Jan 22, 2020
We cannot recall a more restful long weekend break than that we enjoyed in Hereford, having fortunately booked our 5 night stay at this wonderful guest house. The property wwas built in 1912 and the decor and furnishings have been carefully chosen to reflect the Edwardian era but at the same time ensuring their guests comfort is properly catered for.Breakfast was beautifully cooked and more than substantial to set you up for the day and fresh milk available in a small fridge in the hall. Overall,a wonderful experience which we will certainly be repeating in the future.

Outstanding guest house

Lovely converted Edwardian home with very grand proportions, very nice homely rooms with extremely comfortable furnishings, nice carpets and curtains, good shower room, etc. Very comfy bed and easy to sleep too long as it was so comfortable and so quiet! They make full English for you in the morning as well, and they even stock a little fridge in the reception area with orange juice, milk, water, etc for guests - so considerate! Oh and it's only about 10 minutes from the city centre (Cathedral) and about 3 minutes from the train station. I really felt they could easily charge 15-20 pounds per night more than they do, it's a bargain really given the quality and location.

A really great place to stay. Central situation, close to town centre and the railway station, a really good size bedroom, very clean with well thought out little extras for guests. Breakfast was superb. Thank you
Superb Guest House in Hereford

I stayed here 25/11/19. having stayed in some of the best hotels in the UK and abroad, I prefer down to earth honest guest houses where personalities and service are more important than impersonal cosmopolitan impression.
Location is very good with a 15-20 minute walk to the town centre. Parking is very good with plenty of spaces, set back from the main road. If you are looking for economy, you have a KFC within 5 minutes walk however the better easting establishments are 15 -20 minutes walk or a 5 minute taxi drive.
Regarding the service and accommodation, the land lady was superb. Breakfast is normally 08-00 on a Sunday however because I had to be up early I was advised it would be no problem and breakfast was on the table with Coffee at 07-30. The bacon and sausages are first class butchers choice, not supermarket on offer best choice. Coffee was superb.
The bed was very comfortable, bathroom products, (shampoo, soap, etc), were superb and tea and coffee, including instant cappuccino were excellent.
All in all the accommodation was superb. Not modern and cosmopolitan but periodic, in-line with the building and top quality with no shortcuts taken.
I would recommend this establishment to anybody whether on business, looking for a personal touch and first class service to a party of fisherman fishing the Wye, looking for quality accommodation with good access to the city and amenities. Not to mention families and elderly couples. I've stayed in a few guest houses and B & B's in Hereford and this is without any doubts one of the best.
