    Obviously a scam
    on Feb 18, 2017
We stayed at this hotel in October 2015. We also fell for the scam where our taxi driver told us we couldn't get to our original hotel because of a "festival". After leaving one "tourist information" office once we realised it was a scam we ended up walking around a very hot and busy Delhi trying to find our hotel for around 3 hours. In the end we gave up and paid an extra £100 for 3 nights at this hotel. We had pre-arranged a day trip to Agra with a hotel pickup for our first full day and the man on reception told us our taxi driver had called to say he couldn't find the hotel and wasn't coming so we would have to use one of their taxi drivers to take us to the station (a complete lie - our driver showed up 5 minutes later). Thankfully the wi fi was working! I would say avoid if you can, definitely something dodgy going on here!... More

Delhi festival road block SCAM don't stay here!!
    on Dec 20, 2016
If you're in the "tourist information" office and manage to see this in time then don't sign up for any tours and don't go to this hotel. We were scammed into ending up here after arriving very late to Delhi and trying to walk to our actual hotel from the train station. Three separate people told us that the road our hotel was on was closed and that there was no way we could get there. We couldn't get a taxi as no one had change for our 2000 note. Then a taxi driver told us the "tourist information" would change it for us. We got into what we were told was a government taxi (first mistake) then taken to a tourist info office that was very far from were the official one was. Then the guy (who deserves an Oscar for his acting) phoned our hotel (which was actually his friend in the next room) which we spoke to who confirmed there was no way to get to our hotel. He then phoned a few more who conveniently had no rooms left. After some chai and sweet talking we were feeling comfortable in this crooks company. It was around midnight and we were stuck in Delhi with no where to stay. Plus no idea where we were. He then told us there was no way we could get a train the next day to Jaipur and we needed a driver etc. It all seems really obvious now burst the time things were not so clear. We then signed up to a tour of 4 places with driver and hotel, transport etc. Paid £500 (don't know what we were thinking but it happened) We were then taken to hotel Sehej. When we arrived we were taken to our room where we then realised something was not right. Very cheap room, horrible bathroom, lots of men hanging around the corridors leering at me on drugs. Others passed out with the door open in the opposite room. Then with wifi (at least they had it) we googled Delhi road block to see loads of this exact story. We then realised we had been scammed. Before worrying about the £500 we had to get out of this hotel. The guy that worked there was knocking on the door constantly asking my husband if he wanted to 'smoke something' or 'drink beer'. It was about 1am by now. With men looking into our room I felt very uncomfortable and there was no way we were going to sleep here. Who knows what would have happened. Thank god for Uber who saved us and took us to our real hotel. No road block. These people are part of a big scam and avoid at all costs!! ... More

    Exceptional hotel

In a busy area of Karol bagh new deli it's nice to find a peaceful calm comfortable place to rest on your travels. The rooms were clean and comfortable, food was great, staff was very courtious, the location is optimal for all amenities. If you end up in Karol bagh new deli please, do yourself a favor and stop here for a rest. The only complaint I had was there was a lot of noise from the street during the day, if you can get a room away from the Street thats maximum comfort.... More

Watch out for the taxi scam
    on Nov 18, 2016
We got a taxi from the airport and fell for the scam that all hotels were full and our hotel's street was blocked off for a festival or a demonstration, depending on who we talked to. We were brought to a tourist information center where the guy called our hotel (apparently) and the person on the other end said our hotel was cancelled soooo we ended up at this place. We arrived after midnight so were pretty desperate for a room and the reason I gave 2 stars is we got one. However, there was no top sheet, we were in the front room so there was loads of street noise and it seemed like everyone was trying to get money from us. Granted it was mostly the taxi driver's fault but seeing that we talked to 2 german girls at breakfast and they too had fallen for the scam I imagine this hotel must pay some good commissions to screw tourists over as we ended up paying close to $60 for a crappy room (and in India this is a lot). Don't listen to the taxi drivers if they tell you everything is closed or full - we unfortunately didn't have phones so were unable to check and that's how they got us. BEWARE!!!... More

    Don't "EXPLETIVE" Stay Here!
    on Sep 22, 2016
Was led to this SCAM of a hotel by the so called "New Delhi's Government Information Center". I had gotten a taxi from the airport to my pre-booked hotel, but never arrived. I was told by the taxi driver (all part of this elaborate scheme) that the roads were blocked and that they would take me to the Information Centre for alternative directions. Needless to say, got to the Information Centre and realized after some time, that it was a tour company trying to sell tourists ridiculously priced tour packages. I was informed that the hotel I had booked was in a scummy area with many undesirables and wasn't safe for a female solo traveler. I agreed to the change of hotel and a day tour of Delhi. This is how I was brought to Hotel Sehej Continental. After refusing to book a 10 day package with the tour agency, I received repeated calls from their agent at the hotel even though I insisted that the calls were not to be put through. When the agent inquired how I intended to get around India on my own, I responded that I would be meeting up with some other female travelers that I had met the day before. No later than a few minutes after, the complimentary wifi was mysteriously switched off. I was left with no internet for hours on end and freaking out of my mind. Needless to say, I checked out the next morning, but not before, being demanded by the receptionist, to pay for sparkling water I hadn't order. Totally dodgy place! Do not stay there if you value your peace of mind. ... More
