The place is not in a very good area, when we got there they did not get our booking correct. They wanted us to pay upfront but denied credit cards. And Our room smelled like smoke. This is a very expensive hotel and I would not recommend it.
Good value for money and friendly staff

Hotel is close to New Delhi railway station. Easyto access allmajor tourist sites by tuk tuk. Leanty of atms and restaurant choices both vegetarian and non veg. Staff able to organise anything. Thanks for a great stay.

The guys from this hotel tried to cheat us. We booked the room in advance and paid for it per money transfer. As we arrived, they complained, that they have not recieved any money and wanted us to pay again. We refused and called our travel agent back home who said that everything is paid. The receptionist from the hotel still insisted on the money and we had to fight a lot. In the end he gave in but we would not recommend the hotel to any other tourist. At that the rooms weren't very clean and comfortable. And the staff behaved not very kindly or helpfully.
Would not recommend.

Being a Westerner heading to a South Asian country for the first time, my expectations of all the hotels I stayed at in India I kept in check. On every occasion I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation. That is except the Hotel Raj, which thoroughly disappointed me.
It took around 20 minutes of waiting in the lobby before we were seen to to check in. The room is filthy, stains on the bed, rubbish tucked behind the mattress. The toilet went from almost flushing to not-flushing at all. The shower head is rusty and it stains the water on the way down. On top of that, the shower head hangs over the toilet. The whole room including the cistern gets absolutely saturated when you put the shower on. You will struggle to sleep with the loud fan and even louder air-conditioning system...it is humid at the best of times in Delhi and we had to turn off the cooling so we could sleep which made for a very uncomfortable night. We had no towels, toilet paper or water when we got to the room. When we asked for water and towels, they just brought water.
Our Hotel Raj experience is nothing like the pictures. I am sure that if cleanliness and comfort isn’t at the top of your list of important things you look for in accomodation then by all means book here. But there are far better hotels we stayed at, in the Paharganj area, similarly priced, that would feel like sleeping in Buckingham Palace compared to this place.
