Seldomly we can highly recommend an hotel like Radikha Palace. Situated directly at Pushkar lake opposite of the city center it let you easily escape from the tourist crowds (and related annoyances) but is still in walking-distance to the plenty of temples and ghats Pushkar has to offer. The hotel itself is a two-story oriental-style building with a beautiful green court yard inhabited by some turtles. Rooms are simple but clean. You cannot expect more for the low rates. Ask for a room in the second floor. It seems that the owner also renovated the rooms with lake view. Additionally, Radikha Palace has a small pool and a billiard table.
The stuff is very friendly and helpful. It is quite obvious that they like to host people and try to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Especially, we want to mention the newly opened restaurant in the hotel garden. The owner/chef Mukesh and his staff are not only giving a great service but are also very social and nice people. I wont forget the conversations with Mukesh and his boys in the evening, sitting in the restaurant's pavillon overlooking Pushkar lake, hearing spiritual singings from the temples and later absolute quietness (only off-season). But besides enjoying the great atmosphere and company Mukesh is a great chef. The restaurant offers great breakfast, Indian, Israeli and Italian food. Mukesh learnt his Italian cooking skills from an Italian chef and prepares his pizzas in a wood oven. Prices for food and drinks are more than reasonable.
