A home away from Home

Frankly speaking my wife and I was disappointed because we were expecting a three-star hotel. However, after the initial shock, we felt elevated by the hospitality of the hotel. It is a small and simple hotel having 12 rooms. (AC / Non AC) but homely atmosphere and homely food. View from the roof terrace, particularly during the night is beautiful. It is located in the old city and within walking distance of most tourist attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A special mention about the personal touch of the Hotel Management. We will love to go back again soon.

Best property in the city of Udaipur
on Nov 25, 2017
Located exactly in the centre of old Udaipur city, all the places of interest at Udaipur can be walked into from here. The roof top restaurant on top of the hotel is a best place to be at to view the iconic "city palace" with a sipping of a cup of tea in the morning and candle light dinner at night. Perfectly cleaned and hygienic, the hotel is run by one gentleman fondly known as "SANJU" who provides hospitality which is totally unparalleled. Mr. Sanju is thoroughly a kind gentleman who is basically a miniature artist who explains the art of miniature painting from his heart to the visitors (tourists) in his versatile "HINGLISH" i.e. English in Hindi dictum. This hotel houses a miniature painting exhibition cum sale centre on the ground floor which is a self help group initiative "JANAK ARTS" centre. The sale proceeds of the art/painting at JANAK ARTS goes to the families of 09(nine) artists who runs this centre, explains Mr. SANJU. The paintings are reasonably priced. It is also a best souvenir one can take home from Udaipur. My two(02) nights and (02) two days stay at JANAK NIWAS was like a home away from home. Hope to come back again.
Pleasant and lovely stay.

A lovely stay

We stayed at Hotel Janak Niwas for 2 nights and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is clean and very well managed. The views of City Palace at night from the terrace are phenomenal. The hotel is transformed from an old family home and still has that homely and traditional feel. The hotel owner is very friendly and offered great advice on sights to see etc. He is also an artist and has his own showroom in the hotel which is worth seeing. Definitely a lovely hotel and would gladly stay here again.
