Good property, good service

I just checked out of the Mahabahu international in a hurry, so my review for this place will be biased. When you get out of a terrible place, you start appreciating the most simple things. Things such as clean bathrooms, clean crockery and a wifi password
This is a good clean place with a small swimming pool. It is in a fantastic location with the beach, restaurants and the market at a walking distance.
With trees and plants all over, it is a good peaceful environment.
Comfort, rest and good food in a pleasant setting.

We were 3 french couples who stayed 3 nights in hotel Gandhara in November 2017. We appreciated an excellent service and the cleanliness of this nice hotel. The rooms were comfortable and provided with all comfort : modern bathroom, bedsheets and towels changed everyday, TV, phone, etc...Breakfast OK. But no parking facilities.

I loved staying at this hotel while i was visiting Puri. Rooms are very clean and nice, they even have a fridge and a waterboiler inside which is rare in india. Pool looked very clean although i didnt try it. Perfect location as its outside the very busy center. Loved to walk into the fishervillage which is at the end of the road. Food was great and they serve lunch and dinner also. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. I got sick a couple of days and they were so helpful with medicine and food and i really felt i was taken cared of. Thank you so much for that! They also help with tickets and sightseeing which was great travelling alone in india for the first time. I got a really special bond with the true owner and boss of the hotel, Limca, a 12 year old beautiful dog who lives there! Made my stay even better! Be sure to rub his belly if you're visiting, you will get a friend for life:)
All in all loved the place and is one of my favourite places to stay at in india so far!
Thank you all at hotel Gandhara for making my days in Puri so great!

The hotel has been overrated, presumably by those for whom a swimming pool is an overriding priority.
Yes, the pool and it's surroundings are indeed pleasant and the premises cleaned virtually continuously. However, there are disappoinentments galore.
Firstly, the rooms' window ACs have a mind of their own. They change mode and set temperature in their own in the middle of the night. Bathroom geysers are kept continuously on from checkin to checkout leading to sudden thermostat failures. Washbasin discharge falls on the floor just behind the commode. Ground floor main window's panes are painted black instead of using frosted glass for them, presumably to hide filth lying beyond, making the rooms depressingly dark.
Worst, the owners old ailing unwashed dog has a free run of the premises. He is trained to relieve himself on the lawns and comes and stand beside guests relaxing or eating in the open, giving out an odour nauseating for those not used to dogs.
