Rooms are a gamble

A group of 18 of us are traveling through India with an expedition group, and this was one of the hotels we stayed in. We stayed in this hotel twice; once in July as we went up to Kaza from Delhi, and once on our way back down.
The first room we stayed in was on the top floor. The bathroom of this room was a dirty blue colour, there was a leaky pipe and no toilet paper provided, the doorway was low and one of my roommates is quite tall, so he kept hitting his head when he went through.
The room had very few power sockets, and we blew the rooms fuse constantly with the stuff provided like the fan and TV, which didn't work. Also there were exposed sockets next to the shower, so I didn't have one at risk of being electrocuted.
All in room one was very bad, so we were not looking forward to our return journey.
However, our second room was much better, it was a room on the second floor, and it was a nasty 60s yellow bathroom, but there were no leaking pipes, no exposed sockets, and the doorway was high. Our room had a balcony that overlooked Manali, and there were more sockets and better fans in this room, and the TV worked.
The area of this hotel is nice, down a little back alley around 100m from the main road, so easy to walk with backpacks on. There is no lift here so walking up the states was a chore, but the decoration in the hotel was very nice, and other than the bathrooms it was a very clean hotel, with comfy beds and nice views out of some rooms.
All in if I were to go to Manali again, I would strongly consider going here again, however would try to book a room on the second floor, and avoid the top floor
Beautiful Hotel in a very good location.

Its really a budget friendly hotel, located in the central market mall. Excellent service. All the site seeings are easily accesible from here. Marketing also very convenient, since it itsself located in side the mail market mall.

Just a couple of hundred yards away from the bus station and taxi stands offering clean comfortable rooms at good price. A good base before setting off on, or returning from, the 12 hour jeep journey to Kaza in the Spiti valley!!
Good only for back packers.

I had stayed in Hotel Cedar on my way to Spiti and back. The rooms are small overlooking the busy market road. The manager Surender was very helpful. I had to take a taxi at 3 am and he helped me with my luggage and dropped me off to the taxi stand. Good option for back packers. Very close to the bus stand.
