Value for Money Hotel at a walking distance from Calangute Beach
on Nov 4, 2013
We visited Calangute this weekend and happened to stay at this hotel. The hotel is clean and very comfortably located right next to the beach. The lady who owns this place is very soft spoken and helpful and accomodated our many requests. If you are visiting Calangute this is a great option for an economic, hassle free and pleasant stay....
Save money here...spend it partying!

This place was recommended to me by my friend who, just like me, doesn't bother too much about the accommodation when the actual motive of the trip is to enjoy the magic of a place like Goa! Don't get me wrong...this does not at all mean that I am suggesting you spend the tired nights compromising on the much needed comfort. What I believe is when an affordable price can get you a decent level of comfort and safety, its a good deal when you've come to explore the place. So I kind of totally relied upon my friend and tried making a telephonic reservation from Bangalore. The place is run by an aged lady who quite politely told me on the phone that they do not accept telephonic reservations. So, I had to try my luck on the day I reached there. She was sweet enough to have kept a room aside for me and I took whatever I could get since I was dying to head out to the beach on my very first visit to Goa! Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed! The hotel is located right near the Calangute beach which is quite an advantage! The room # 32 on the second floor of the hotel was a nice one with lot of natural light coming in and with a sprawling balcony overlooking the Calangute beach. The room, although without an A/C, was spacious enough with a clean toilet with good bathroom fittings. I couldn't find any bath soap, towels or shampoo there though! Neither did I find any mosquito repellent in the room. I'm not quite sure whether these are available on request since I managed to get my own and I would rather suggest you carry them too! The television set was working with a good variety of channels. The hotel doesn't have a kitchen so you cannot expect food on demand. But honestly, who would want to spend the day lazing and eating at the hotel when there's the awesome beach shacks waiting to serve you lip smacking sea food with super cheap beer? I stayed at A Canoa for two nights and had a peaceful sleep for both. In case you are planning to party till late in the night, its advisable to carry the room keys with you since 10pm is the last time till which you can get the keys from the reception. All put together, my stay at the hotel was not a nightmare and if a room is available I wouldn't mind staying here again...
