Good Location, Decent hotel, courteous Staffs
on Sep 20, 2017
This is a decent old hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Mahabaleshwar in between the forests with ample parking space. Please book this hotel ONLY IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN VEHICLE.Rooms are old but spacious including balcony. The area is huge with full of greenaries. They also have a small swimming pool infront of the reception.Foods were good and staffs were courteous. Although it may not be "value for money" but a good alternate options if Mahabaleshwar is full & overcrowded (mainly during long weekends or holidays)!
Decent Hotel with Helpful staff

SO I ended up booking this hotel after doing a lot of search online for my last minute plan for mahabaleshwar. Luckily for me, there was a promotion going on which helped me score a good deal due to some flexibility with my dates.
We reached the hotel a bit late as we had started late but were welcomed with smile on the reception. There is a narrow lane that leads to the hotel which can barely accommodate 2 hatchbacks at once but is in good condition. The main reception is a bit inside but gives you an option to have a sneak-peek of the property. IT has it's own parking space and I was told it has 3 different parking stations so it was bot an issue. The son of the Owner Dheeraj is quite friendly and had shared the Google map link and reminder of our booking day before to us and was available at reception during check in. I had gone there with my wife and 5 month old DD so was a bit skeptical and nit-picking but he was at hand to answer all my queries. They served some welcome drink as well during check-in process but I didn't have it. Later was told by my wife it was ok-ok. So, check in was a breeze and we were moving towards our room within 5 mins of reaching reception.
The room given to us was quite small but had a decent bathroom fitted with a bathtub. when I inquired about any other rooms available I was shown another room which was quite big and as the only room available but the bath was small with just shower area. So we decided to stick with our room only. The view was good giving us view of Machan area, lawn and pool which is directly in front of reception. They have few trampolines, 1 swing right next to reception, 1 hammock next to pool and quite a few other amenities across the property. We didn't spend time in the game room but enjoyed roaming around the lush green property in evening and in the morning. Lots of photo-ops if you are into it.
The hotel provides all-veg buffet breakfast/, lunch and dinner. Non-veg is available for a-la-crate orders only. We opted to go for a-la-crate option for dinner and breakfast was already part of the package we picked. The food was good but you need to inform the kitchen at least 30 mins before to give them prepartion time. You can order from your room and roam around property while it's prepared so didn't feel the wait time much. The dinning area where food is served is divided between open and porch sitting and being a bit low on guest(I guess) we had a choice. But due to rains and chilly breeze we decided to eat inside. The tables are a bit old fashioned and this area serves as buffet dinning area as well. The food was good and had just enough quantity for 2.
The next day before check out we went for breakfast. The spread was your go to dishes like, bread butter and/or jam, upma, veg cutlets, cornflakes, milk, tea and coffee. The tea was surprisingly good. Food was on par with what you cna get in almost any resort so no complaints there either. We asked to spend some time on the property after checkout and they had no issues. We clicked quite a few photos around the property and managed to get our hands on the Segway too.
As far as the property goes, it's a bit old construction fashioned around those Forest houses from early independence era.
Overall this property is good if you are looking for a calm, relaxed stay with family or alone and provided a nice break from city noise.

Grand resort is good hotel if you have own car to reach there. Kids can enjoy garden only. basic games and cyling is chargeble... Swimiming pool is owesome . Food & snacks costly. Mahabaleswar market is not accessable by walking ..taxi will take Rs 400 for return. Rooms are neat and clean. Grandwoods & Cottages are good but dont book on make my trip or online...as staff is allooting rooms as per last option available...not first..... staff is responisve but still not prompt....overall good family hotel..if your budget is high......
3.5/5; perfect setting for peace and serenity; bad execution; costly when compared with services offered.

Resort has got mostly perfect set-up, calm environment, freshness in air, perfect settings , all equipment for family quality time, I am satisfied with their offering, kinda best jungle resort ever visited. Management has actually made a great resort.
But execution seems to be in not so good hands, bed sheets are made of polyester-mix & not of cotton, not comfortable for sound sleep. had a broker soap dispenser in room & I was put charge in bill, come-on, I never paid though. Food buffet normally offered only one dish worth eating, better look outside for food (only if u have personal vehicle). Location is fine if you have own vehicle, otherwise apprx 1KM walking in hilly terrain is tough for family & taxi will ask for enormous 200/- bucks for one way drop. Table tennis & karrom was functioning; library, pool (not being clean enough), billiards, badminton were practically not available.
