Relax between Basque Country day trips

Hotel is set on a bluff above Atlantic on edge of an upscale residential area. Hotel rooms & condos available, the latter filled mostly with French families. Our room was small, but comfortable. Front desk staff accommodating & friendly. Lovely terrace with view of sweeping lawn & pool where you can eat or just relax, listen to waves crashing on rocks nearby. Popular 20 minute walk to downtown along cliff side/ beachside promenade. 5-10 minute drive. On site parking not guaranteed, but we never had a problem finding a spot. St Jean de Luz is a charming town with a good beach. It gets busy & parking difficult on warm weekends. Lots of restaurants/cafes/ small shops in the pedestrian area of town. Reservations a must for popular places. Biarritz, Bayonne, Espelette & other Basque villages are an easy drive.

Traveled here with my husband and two teenage sons. We walked down into the city of Saint Jean de Luz for dinner a couple times and during the day for lunch. Great location for relaxing and walk to town was down a pedestrian path that was filled with people walking and checking out the sites. Interesting history in the area.
Hotel has a single building with rooms, the restaurant, check in area, and also another building with more apartment type suites. We actually had a room in each location, which was not ideal, but because my sons were 18 & 16 it was okay. Everything was clean and staff really nice and helpful. We used the laundry facilities which were easy to use with a token from the front desk. The morning buffet was large and there were lots of options.
There were NO Americans there while we were there....which was great! But, if that is not something you think you will like, then maybe this isn' t the spot for you.
The grounds were lush and beautiful. Hope to return.

My mother and I stayed one night at this wonderful property. We loved our room but really enjoyed sitting in the garden enjoying tapas and entertainment. Very enjoyable with an unforgettable view.
The staff were very helpful the next day after we had already checked out and my rental car decided not to start! They assisted us in getting in touch with the rental car company and took care of us while we waited 3 hours while everything was sorted out. This involved having to report to the rental car company, having the car towed and then finally getting a taxi to take us to Biarritz to pick up another rental car. Can't thank the staff enough for their kind assistance.
Nice location, far from town

The hotel is fine, the bedding a bit scratchy. It's a 20 minute walk from the centre, although the walk is nice. The balcony was deeply unimpressive.Breakfast was decent, good selection, although hard to get a second cappucino (they ignore you once you're seated). Pool was cold.
Lovely place to stay

We only had one night here and I wish it were more. Our room was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the views. The hotel is very convenient to the beautiful town either by a 15-20 minute walk or a quick car ride. We did the tasting menu for dinner which was lovely in the outdoor seating area and our server was very sweet in speaking her very best english for us, as we speak no french. Overall the staff was very, very nice except for the one woman who checked us in, not even a smile did we receive. If I was back in this area, I would return for sure, it's very nice.
