Central hotel with welcoming host
on Dec 17, 2017
We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at the Dera Mandawa, a family owned heritage hotel in the centre of Jaipur, on a recent holiday to India. A large very comfortable room, excellent food and a very welcoming and informative host. Some nice touches, including a puppet show on our first night, and an introduction to the popular Jaipur activity of kite flying! A great base for exploring Jaipur with excellent friendly staff.
Unique welcoming hotel

We stayed for three nights at this unique hotel, and really enjoyed the experience. The host is so interesting and knowledgable, and our room was beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the evening puppet show and particularly enjoyed the fantastic food. Such fantastic quality and reasonably priced. An unforgettable hotel, and thoroughly recommended.
Absolutely charming stay and hosts in the centre of Jaipur

After a long drive from Agra, Dera Mandawa (this family owned home/palace converted into a small hotel) was like a jewelled oasis. We were welcomed by family member Smriti Singh who made us feel as though we were personal house guests.
Our 3 days were exactly what we needed after the intensive days in Delhi, Veranasi, Khajuraho and Agra. A delightfully spacious suite very tastefully furnished overlooking a garden courtyard where we dined for breakfasts and dinner. Lunch was always out on tours or shopping. What a welcome return each evening to a refreshing pre-dinner gin and tonic.
Mornings were wonderful with a delivered, in room pot of tea, complete with tea cosy.
Staff were so friendly and it was very obvious they were well respected by the owners.
It was fascinating to be able to read about the Maharaja from Jaipur who was invited and travelled to London as a guest at Queen Victoria's Coronation.
Our stay here was one of the highlights of our time in India.
A Jewell in the heart of Jaipur
on Dec 7, 2017
We stayed at Dera Mandawa for four nights.
Unlike so many of the other hotels which claim to be in Jaipur (but are often several km out of the city centre), this charming hotel is situated right in the heart of it all.
The epitome of Indian charm, this small, characterful, authentic private hotel makes you feel more of an honoured house guest of an aristocratic Indian host, than just a guest at a hotel. The owners, Mr & Mrs Singh are charming, welcoming, and highly knowledgeable. They clearly have a passion for Jaipur, it’s culture, and also for this property, which has been in the same family for around 100 years.
There were several highlights over the four days we stayed. One of which was being treated to a cooking demonstration by Mrs Singh one evening, when we also enjoyed chatting with her over dinner about the history and traditions of the city.
There is no doubt you are truly looked after, proudly as their guest. Dinner is always fresh and delicious.
We stayed in a suite, which was very large, and with a double storey vaulted bedroom ceiling.
We feel most privileged to have stayed with such charming hosts, and would not hesitate to return.
Luxury, style and great hospitality with attention to provide an Indian novelty attraction to our stay.

A beautifully cared for home reflecting style and history offering beautiful suites and courtyard dining all provided with great care and attention. Dinners and breakfasts were delicious and more than adequate to nourish us fo our days activities. The travellers needs were minutely cared for while their interest in the environment was informed by our elegant hostess.
A complimentary puppet show by travelling puppeteers was great fun and yet another insight to Indian culture.
We would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.
