Excellent Home Stay
on Dec 12, 2017
This small Home Stay is situated in a quiet residential area. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom very large. Toiletries were supplied and the towels soft.
My wife was feeling nauseous and when the Gentleman of the house (the son-in-law of the Colonel) realised at breakfast the following morning, he expressed concern and then sent his driver to the pharmacy to get some pills he assured us would make her feel better. Not only did the pills work extremely well but there was no charge for this service.
Meals (delicious) were served on the roof and I was surprised and pleased to see the staff wearing disposable gloves.
I have given 5 stars based on a comparison with other establishments at the same price point and I'm happy to recommend The Colonel's Retreat as a good place to stay with kind and helpful service.
Quiet, comfortable, convenient

Colonels retreat in Defence Colony, is exactly what it says in their website; with lovely , understated, elegant decor,in a green, quiet area and yet a stone’s throw away from all the necessary amenities of markets and transport. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and were very well looked after by the friendly ,helpful and willing staff. The breakfast at the roof top was a real treat boasting of homemade delicious breads ,cakes, jams and an assortment of delicious indian food and continental food .I loved the simple but elegant decor of our large sized room . The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very well equipped .The common lounge in our floor was a welcome sanctuary to lounge with a cup of tea and browse through magazines and brochures kept for the visitors with helpful information. The interesting pictures, writing table ,carpets and the lovely decorative pieces added to the the feeling of coziness. It is easy to see that this place has been done up very lovingly and thoughtfully . We have been here before and it has increased in size with more rooms added since then but it has in no way compromised the quality of service but in fact gives a feeling of being home away from home. Thanks for the delightful stay.
Away from the hustle and bustle

This was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. Quiet location with friendly, attentive staff and delicious meals on the rooftop restaurant. My room was spotless, hot water plentiful and bed very comfortable.
The legendary banana bread lived up to expectations as did the other breakfast and evening meal offerings.

Colonel's Retreat: is an oasis of calm in an extremely busy and quite polluted city. I loved my room and the comfortable "communal area" on the third floor where I stayed. The staff was awesome, nothing was too much for your satisfaction during your stay. I will definitely stay here again, and will highly recommend this hotel for others who are planning trips to India. A real jewel in Delhi!
