Excellent Customer Service

Every single person we dealt with did what they could to give great customer service. They provided information, suggestions, and ideas. We had an extremely early tour one morning and the restaurant was flexible about letting us in a few minutes early so we could get something to eat. Our only issue, and the only reason they did not get 5 stars, was our hot water worked great at night but not very well at all early in the morning.

The hotel is in the city so a certain amount of noise is expected! Unfortunately our room 205 a corner room (double aspect) didn’t have adequate sound proofing in the two windows facing the streets. We were woken up by noisy street screaming and shouting on several occasions throughout both nights we stayed here. This was mentioned after the first night to reception and we were told that we could move up a couple of floors but still facing the same streets as before. We declined the change as the noise from the street would be exactly the same so experienced another noisy night. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Such a disappointment on the sleeping quality.
Nasty Hotel Reservation behavior ever seen !! Don’t make mistakes!

I made a non-refund reservation via wotif website for 3 people for 1 night, willing to pay 233nzd, where 2 minutes after that I found out in the receipt that something went wrong with the reservation details- the date was wrong, it was one month ahead the time I wanted. I’m pretty sure I put the correct date. I called wotif costumer service and contacted the hotel website immediately, to have them give me a chance to correct it before the reservation is processed, but unfortunately the hotel reservation desk acted nasty, didn’t mind the innocent mistake, didn’t mind I’m a member of the hotel group and actually- didn’t care much. Nothing I could do to change it , I had to cancel the reservation and get 50% (after intensive negotiation). Simple innocent mistake costs me 116 nzd in 1 minute. That’s a shame behavior to costumers. My advise to you- stay away from there, look up for a place that is more gentle, that respects you and understand that people sometimes do small mistakes, don’t judge them for that. In a different case where a hotel was being understanding, and let me enjoy the benefits of the innocent mistake, I, as a costumer, would be greatfull for many years to come. Unfortunately, in this case, my foot would never step into any of Rydges hotel ever.
I can't stand cheap places

staying here in Auckland and the water smells of sulfur out of tap. I looked for bottled water and did not see any. called down to front desk and was told there is no complimentary water in rooms. just moved here from Crowne plaza 2 blocks away. they had 2 bottles in the room upon checkin. even if ridges does not do that if I had a customer complain about water odor I would gladly give them a bottle to keep them a happy customer. what a cheap place. glad I only have to be here one night and wish I were still at the Crowne plaza but with a tour that booked us in this cheap place.

Convenient location to restaurants and supermarkets, right in the middle of the cbd.
I had a standard room. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable. Mini bar selection was good. The bathroom was small and had an awkward design but sufficient for a work trip. Toiletries were the bare minimum.
The floor was very quiet.
The staff were friendly.
The continental breakfast buffet was nice.
The gym was severely lacking. Very small and no free weights.
