Beautiful Restaurant with Average Food & Service
on May 7, 2019
First visit was awesome with food, service and ambience. However when visited to celebrate first anniversary the experience was completely different. Called and requested before to reserve the best possible table to spend quality time with my wife, but when reached got a table just at the entry as they didn't take any effort to reserve or decorate a table. The ambience was good though but the mosquitoes could have be avoided with better repellants. The lights in the night were too bright as not a single photo was coming good due to overlighting. The paneer tikka starter in green gravy suggested by the captain was pathetic with no garnishing and marination around it. It was absolutely dry. The cheese corn balls were half fried and sticky inside. The captain got them fried again but the damage was already done. Only saver for the night were the Long Island Iced Tea cocktail and a Mocktail. We were in no mood to have maincourse after the starters spoiled the taste and appetite.
The only good thing left here is the ambience. Would love to visit again but only after hearing good reviews about food.
Can be more adventurous with the food

The drive to the restaurant is exciting as you have to enter Yeoor gaon, which is a part of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park forest. You'll see signboards saying Beware of Leopards. There's ample parking outside the restaurant and it looks great from outside. As you step in through the gate and make your way to the restaurant, you will be intrigued by the interiors. They are done up nicely and there's a little bridge you have to cross to get to the dining area. However, on the menu is your run-of-the-mill Indian (North Indian) and Chinese cuisine. I wish they were more adventurous with their food. What we had wasn't really worth its price. There's a pool and we saw a father and son enjoying themselves. So we guessed there are rooms too. My wife and I inquired about the availability of rooms but they said the rooms had been demolished a few years ago, and it's only the restaurant that exists now. So, what started as an exiting trip ended up being quite disappointing. We were left wanting more.

Exotica is located on top of Yeoor hills in Thane. It is literally giving a feel of being on a mountain top. The food quality is ok but ambiance is wonderful. There are 2 guys who play live music and classic hindi songs which adds to the ambiance.
Overall a good place to be with your family on a rainy/wintery evening.
Cost for 2: Rs 800

This restaurant is located in Yeoor Hills area in Thane. Nice cool location at top of the hill. Nice decor with comfortable sitting surrounded by water bodies. Good for parties.
In food, tandoori chicken was good but fish was strictly ok. Pahadi chicken, Paneer tikka & Kali miri paneer were ok. One must try peanut masala in starters. Daal khichadi was taste less. In deserts, kulfi was good. Good service. Little expensive.
