Peaceful Place, difficult location
on Jun 13, 2015
Reaching to this place at Kalaimagal Nagar itself is a task. Once you reach, you may feel like staying at remote apartment, away from city crowd and traffic. Bigger rooms with average facilities and amenities, good enough to say stay at bunglow in cleaner locality in Chennai. 5 kms from air port and once metro become operational, it would be convenient to go to other parts of city. They serve breakfast and dinner at the place but taste is monotonous and typical. Cinnamon and clove in vegetables, south indian dishes in breakfast and limited varieties give you suffocating feeling.
Peaceful location, no convenience

I was visiting Chennai on an official trip and my Office had booked a twin sharing room for me here. It's probably a Bungalow remodelled into a Service apartment. It's amongst huge Bungalows owned by a big shot Businessman and a Police official. All filthy rich.
Anyway, getting an auto is next to impossible.
The ground floor room I was staying in had no Cell phone network.
Wifi, very weak. No use at all.
The staff don't communicate, so you are unaware about the food arrangements.
And finally, the part that pissed me off a lot was that there was no option of paying by Debit/Credit card. So, at midnight, I had to go to the main road, withdraw cash and clear the checkout as I was flying out early in the morning.
Now that's downright pathetic.
Good value for money

Good value for money and nice location. Noted that the previous reviewer mentioned that there are no good hotels nearby which is not very accurate as you have many like Saravana Bhavan, Asife, grand sweets and the like. Cheap options are hotel Ganesh Bhavan
Good value if the location is OK with you

Very clean beds and large rooms, helpful staff. Fresh looking building in a nice locality. Wifi, tv, food ...decent for any business traveller.
Downside - the location. Ekattuthangal is far away from any decent restaurant. Minimum 20 minute walk to the nearest Saravana Bhavan. Getting autorickhaws is tough, so have to call taxis.
