A cozy place that needs some improvement

Located in the corner on the road that leads to Baga beach, this little resort isn't by the seaside as suggested in the name. The view from the rooms aren't any good and you walk out on to the busy lane connecting baga to calangute. While the room was spacious, it doesn't come with double beds. All their rooms have only twin beds for whatever reason. Moreover, they do not serve gravy items in room service.
It was my son's birthday on the day we arrived there on May 23rd after a long drive from the airport and I'd requested them to decorate the room with some balloons and get a cake to surprise him. They quoted Rs. 1000 for this and even sent me an email that the amount must be paid in cash at the time of check-in itself. I was indeed taken by surprise as the room only had balloons thrown around - scattered and no sign of the cake. We guessed it might be in the mini-fridge and there it was, tilted and smudged. My son felt happy even with that and we didn't make a fuss about it.
The next surprise was the breakfast. Limited menu items to select for veg and non-veg. There was hardly any choice and it was the same breakfast everyday! Bread, Omelette, a small quantity of cut fruits and sausages - all in limited quantity. For vegetarians there was Goan bread and some beans or cottage cheese. The common factor was a juice or tea/coffee. My son only had corn flakes. Breakfast was disappointing. They add it to the room tariff and say complimentary!
Staff was well behaved. This place has a small swimming pool across the road. You may expect some live music on weekends.
We had stayed at this place earlier some 11 years back. However, after our recent visit, I don't think we will come here again. Also, because we had enough of baga and calangute since the overcrowded beaches with activities and loud bollywood music at the shacks is not our style of holidaying. Food at Souza Lobo has become very expensive! If you like to enjoy Goa in its serenity and charm, then head to South Goa.
Must do for live music and atmosphere on Friday nights

This review refers only to the bar and restaurant at Cavala. The atmosphere is very very lively. It seems the best looking and best dressed ladies in Goa were there. The band was excellent with a great selection of retro pop and rock music. My rating is only for the Friday scene and not for other aspects. My kingfish steak with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables was OK. My wife's mushrooms cafreal was very good. There were some flaws in the service and attention to guest requirements... not getting the table I had reserved and a food delivery issue
The best for live music

If it's Friday in Goa, it's got to be Cavala! I have been visiting Goa twice a year since 2005. Cavala is the place to go to if you are looking at an uber relaxed experience while sipping on you favorite cocktail. Of course, the music is exemplary if you are a classic rock n roll afficianado.
Cavala is like a 'graduation' after you are done with shacks and beaches in Goa. It's the natural evolution one must experience, especially for folks like us who visit Goa regularly.
I will recommend Fridays at Cavala. The love band is awesome and belts out classic numbers. When a band starts with Manhattan (an Eric Johnson number), you know you are at the right place!
The entire place turns alive with couples jiving and dancing. The crowd is super and the service is impeccable. No complaints bout the food either.
Visit this place if you are with family or friends who like good music and have good taste. Do not expect shack-isq rates for food and beverages (they are slightly marked up but manageable). Do not expect this place to play Bollywood and folks performing nagin dance...I like all of these, but Cavala ain't that place. It's a place to worship good music and great crowd.
And yes, be neatly dressed. No platform soles, tuxedos, lounge wear and shoes, but not sleeveless ganjis and I love Goa tee's. Team up your cargo's with a nice shirt or tee and then head out to this place. You won't be disappointed!
Very arrogant staff and misleading reviews

Currently operating from premises of Banana Republic across the road in view of the ongoing renovations. Fantastic retro music band created a magical atmosphere on Friday evening. Food and drink options and quality are fantastic too!
