Good location and nice service.. buffet spread is fabulous.. lot of choices..more than worth for what they charge for buffet.. the road is not that good.. a typical plantation road...once you reach the hotel the things change. The location of the hotel is amazing and it offers good view... I knew that all the rooms doesn't provide good view.. but the public areas including restaurant offers the nice view to valley. The infinity pool is amazing... They had a fire dance performance in the evening... I couldn't enjoy fully as I was late ... The service is good, especially the restaurant service is amazing..they also provided nature walk in the morning, but I couldn't participate in it also.

The best views you can have. Very clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and prices are reasonable. The buffet for both breakfast and dinner has a variety of local and delicious food.

A contemporary hotel perched on a mountain with breathtaking views of forest and tea plantation. The rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped. The views from our room were fantastic of eucalyptus trees, tea and a waterfall! The food was also a great bonus!
Solo woman visiting Kerala for 3 days
on Mar 19, 2018
I was on a business trip (from London) in India for 3 weeks and I have decided to spend one of my weekends in Kerala. I traveled on my own as a single woman, so I thought it might be useful to others in similar situation if I share my experiences from this wonderful trip.
I landed in Kochi on Friday afternoon. I took a pre-paid taxi from Kochi airport to Munnar. This was possibly the only bad experience from my whole trip: the road to Munnar is narrow, steep and full of sharp turns, but the taxi driver was overtaking recklessly in a very high speed. I was pretty scared through the whole journey and hugely relieved when we finally arrived to the hotel.
The hotel was called Banked Hotel & Spa. I had a very good stay in this hotel. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent and the views were stunning. There is a small pool (probably a big benefit if you would travel with kids) and massage therapists. Be aware though that Kerala law does not allow to provide alcohols in their hotels, so there is no bar to relax and socialize in the evening. The architecture of the hotel is a big downside. It is, in my opinion, completely wrong style for the location, though I would blame the local authority (rather than the hotel) for allowing to destroy the beautiful place by such an unsuitable building.
I have asked the hotel to organize a taxi for me to hire for the whole morning. The driver called Ganesh was waiting for me after the breakfast. And it was hugely thanks to him that my weekend in Kerala turned out to be one of my best weekend breaks. He asked me what I would like to see he made suggestions, we agreed a plan and then we set off.
First we arrived to the Spice Garden. For me as European this was a place of wonder. They have proper herb plantation, but they also have a special show place with all sorts of herbs and fruits for tourists to see. They let me to taste various herbs and fruits straight from trees. The lady giving me the tour had an excellent knowledge in the use of all these plants.
Then we have visited a tea factory. Together with few other visitors we were taken through the whole factory and we were explained the whole process and differences in types of tea and their benefits.
Ganesh then took me back to Munnar and recommended a good place to have a traditional local food served on a huge banana leaf.
After the lunch we carried on to the dam. Though there are some nice views from the dam, it was a very crowded and pretty dirty place, so I could not say this is the place I would like to return to.
We have returned back to the hotel. After a short rest I have settled for a walk straight from the hotel down to the valley. The path took me along waterfalls (which I would imagine could be pretty spectacular during monsoon season) and a church. Then I took a turn into a side path and walk several kilometers through tea plantations with stunning views to the hills.
And I ended up my day by using the massage services in the hotel. The massage was excellent and my usual problems with my neck mussels were gone for the whole next week (I am spending long days at computers as software engineer).
I planned to move to Allapey. The previous day Ganesh suggested that bus might be the best way how to get there. He arrived in the morning, stopped the bus for me and made sure that it is the right bus (absolutely impossible for foreigner to tell). He also called his colleague in Allapey to wait for me when I arrive. They both called me during my bus journey to assure me that all is ok. The bus journey took 6 hours (it did stop twice for 10 minutes break), but it was surprisingly pleasant. It was a very interesting journey through villages taking locals to their shopping trips and work (as much as I could understand).
The rickshaw driver was indeed waiting for me. He knew I wanted to take a boat trip. He took me to a little private boat that was waiting for me as well. We settled off straight away. The captain took me for 4 hours journey through backwaters. He stopped few times for me to get refreshment. Backwaters is a very beautiful place. I had absolutely wonderful afternoon and I would like to come back to spend an entire night in one of these pretty looking houseboats.
The rickshaw driver was waiting for me when we arrived back to the port. He took me for a trip around Allapey. We stopped at a lighthouse, at a Hindu temple and at a beach. The water was very warm and the sun was just setting - a marvelous end to my marvelous day.
Then I took a taxi to Kochi airport.
I arrived back to my business hotel in 2 in the morning, but I got up in the morning easily full of energy gain through the Kerala weekend.
I would like to thank to the hotel and to people who looked after me during the weekend for making my visit in Kerala so very pleasant. I kept contact numbers to all those people who made my visit so very pleasant so please let me know if you would like to contact them.
