    If you are seriously considering travelling to Goa and going through the options please read this review very carefully. I visited Goa this month from 5th to 9th Dec. Since I was travelling with my family which has 2 kids aged 7 years and 10 months I was looking for a resort with a kitchenette. I was also looking at staying near the airport so South Goa was the safest bet. I came upon Devasthali resort and visited the website which looked promising. It mentioned that resort was large , had great spacious rooms and a fully functional kitchenette. I read all the reviews and booked the same. The first shock came when I reached the place. It looked ancient (Old would be an understatement). The resort is designed in a semi circle. One end has the café called MJ and rooms spread till the other end. There is stagnant water body throughout the length of the resort which is full of garbage. You will not see this anywhere in the pictures on the website. There are too many mosquitos and it is impossible to sit and have food in the cafe. The rooms were very small and stinky and the furniture was unstable and very very old(Must have been picked up from a garage sale).The kitchenette had a hob and it was for show only, the gas had been removed. There was no microwave as shown in the pictures on the website. The staff mentioned both the things have been removed for safety purposes. There was an induction plate which had only the dosa/roti button functional, the others functions on the induction plate were only for show. There was no cutlery /crockery. When I asked for a knife I was refused. They probably thought I have a murder plan in mind. I had to use a butter knife to peel fruits for my 10 month old daughter. The website boasts that the resort is near the Hollant Beach , please be mindful as it is not a beach but a place where fishermen’s have shanties and they stay there and it is filthy.. I would really request you guys to not book this place as they will cheat you of your money. The payment is to be made upfront and is non refundable coz these guys know they fool people but since your money is blocked you will have to stay. The Manager Mr. Anuj who was very cordial till we reached suddenly vanished , probably not wanting to face us. When we asked him why the website dupes people he just smiled sheepishly. It was nothing less than shameful. Moreover he looked as if he had just come out of a hangover and looked totally squashed. The service in the café is very very slow and you loose interest in what you ordered by the time the food comes. Also the food is very average. The final nail in the coffin was about the taxi issue. There is a taxi stand opposite the resort which has tie up with them , so if you get a taxi from another area you will be harassed and you will not be allowed to board your taxi. When we confronted Anuj he shamelessly replied “Madam yeh kaun batata hai”. Please don’t get swayed by the reviews on the wesite of Devasthali Resorts as I am sure they are fudged and paid ones. I would request you all to Please please do not book this resort , there are better and cheaper options available. At least you will not be duped and disappointed.     About the Hotel : Hotel Devasthali is located in South Goa and is a 5 mins drive from the airport. It is a lush green peacful estate with a backwater stream running towards its back(not clean though). Hollant beach (more of a fisherman;s cove, not worth it)is a 10 mins walk from the resort and the Bogmalo beach is a 10 mins drive. If you want to live in the peace and quiet it is at a very good location and Bogmalo beach is very good, with some good shacks. However if you want to do water sports, go to North Goa or Panjim , it would take you atleats 1.5 hours or more due to the traffic and construction going all around. We were 2 families so had booked their Family Villa after looking at the details and pictures posted on their website. However the list of disappointment started as soon as checked-in.The main reason to book a family villa was that it came with a kitchenette (we were with a 10month old kid) which to quote from their own website is a "complete kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, cooking range, microwave and other essentials" . firstly the gas was not working and they say they discontinued it. Instead there was a induction stove which was also working partially. There was no Microwave and no utensils. Only few pans were there. Fridge was also too small and froze everything kept inside. We asked for a knife and were flatly refused. On insisting they send a rusty knife which we returned and was never offer a replacement. On asking for a microwave we were told, give us stuff and we would reheat it for you. The property looks very old and could be much better maintained. Our Villa had two bedrooms and only one of them had a TV and phone, so if you want to order for room service you need to disturb the person in the other room. The bathrooms were clean and spacious but whenever you took a shower all the water would spill out and the whole floor is soaking wet so even taking a basic shower was a pain. This was an issue with both the bathrooms. Villa comes with 3 ACs but they will give you only 2 Remotes which work at their own will and there is no panel\switch to allow you to control them without the remote. Also the lights in the room are too less and dark.Coming to the living room, the Sofas were pathetic(probably 10s of year old), the seats were lumpy and cushions were just falling down due to being deshaped years ago. Again lights were an issue here too. It was not that hotel was over crowded and the staff was hassled. Only 1-2 rooms were booked at the time of our visit. "Anuj" from the hotel was absent all the time and it seems you need to call him specifically for any issues, there is no pro-activeness from his or the manager's end.Just outside the hotel is a taxi stand which makes a big hue and cry if you call a outside taxi and the hotel Staff or Anuj did not bothered to inform us about it when we were booking our return cab. The hotel staff other wise was courteous and helpful.Their chef is good and will customise food for you but the waiting time for any meal is atleast 30 mins ( this might be Goan laid-back tendency :-) )...     For the quite holiday this place is just for you, if you want to be with yourself or family its nice and quite place to stay. If you want to explore better to choose the hotel closer to civilisation. Not any beach close by, you would need to use a taxi to travel to closest city... More

    Room dusty and overall old and uncomfortable. Blinds didn’t cover properly windows and sofas dirty. Bathroom drains didn’t work and tiles missing. Beach is good walk away and not to offer chairs. Swimming pool too small for swimming. Internet occasionally might work but not well. 04.00am when we were leaving - WIFI didn’t work for the credit card pay and we (couple with all our belongings) were sent for the scary Taxi trip to get cash from machine for the small restaurant bill. I would never go back!... More

    Everything was expensive and not worth the price, high prices which doesn't included taxes. there was no wifi half of the time and sometimes no hot water in the shower. The beach is nice but the taxis take a lot of money. ... More

  3. The standard check-in and check-out times are 12 noon. Early check-in or late check-out is subject to hotel availability and may also be chargeable by the hotel. Any early check-in or late check-out request must be directed to and reconfirmed with the hotel directly.
  4. Failure to check-in to the hotel, will attract the full cost of stay or penalty as per the hotel cancellation policy.
  5. Hotels charge a compulsory Gala Dinner Supplement during Christmas, New Year's eve or other special events and festivals like Diwali or Dusshera. These additional charge are not included in the booking amount and will be collected directly at the hotel.
  6. There might be seasonal variation in hotel tariff rates during Peak days, for example URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, the room tariff differences if any will have to be borne and paid by the customer directly at the hotel, if the booking stay period falls during such dates.
  7. All additional charges other than the room charges and inclusions as mentioned in the booking voucher are to be borne and paid separately during check-out. Please make sure that you are aware of all such charges that may comes as extras. Some of them can be WiFi costs, Mini Bar, Laundry Expenses, Telephone calls, Room Service, Snacks etc.
  8. Some hotels may have policies that do not allow unmarried / unrelated couples or certain foreign nationalities to check-in without the correct documentation.
