    Visited this hotel on 22nd Jan- 24th jan. I had my hotel booked in Shimla and due to heavy snowfall, roads to Shimla were closed. Me and my family were left no other go to checkout some hotels near shogi and kathleeghat. It was a walk-in, First impression - hotel is decent,manager and hotel staff were very polite. But their politeness and helpful nature turned sour in few hours. One of my family member cought up cold and fever and we requested the manager to get us "crocin" it was 7pm and manager says hotel doesn't have any tablets and can arrange for tablets provided we pay them 300₹. His story is chemist is around 5km from hotel. And he will ask his regular cab guy to get it.. we had no option we needed the tablet we agreed without giving a second thought.. after 2 hrs I get call from manager and he says all the chemist r closed.. Next day we had luck to visit Shimla as the roads were open. We booked cab from hotel-shimla-hotel( cab dropped us in front of lift), the cab charges r very high(never ever book cab from here). Manager acts as a travel agent in defending high cab rates and convinces u saying they r charging very less price. Which is not true at all.. we had no issues to spend money to get tablets as well as huge amount for cab to Shimla, coz we have come for vaction.. our checkout was 24th and we spoke to manager abt charges of cab to Kalka, it's 2500₹. I felt it's too much and told manager we shall checkout by 12.30 and will inform him if I want cab. I had contact number of taxi union and arranged for cab from hotel to Kalka in 1600₹. Next day manager calls us by 9 and asks for cab which we denied. Manager calls us again by 10.45am and asks us to vacate room is 15min... I tried convincing him to give us atleast 1 hr so that we can get ready, we were still asleep. Manager starts arguing and being rude. Says the hotel is full which is total lie Hardly 1 or 2 rooms were occupied.. We had no other go we had to vacate hotel in a hurry, without breakfast, without taking bath. And coming to food- tea was good, dinner was good, but tandoori chicken was yuck and stinking.. My advice- Dont have food here, don't take cabs from this hotel, speak to manager regarding power cut at night, there was no power backup for almost 4 hrs at night..and most importantly speak very clearly abt checkout time. Will never ever suggest this hotel to any.... More

    The wife and I made a weekend trip to shimla, and we had high hopes from andaz. But I'm confused as to how to rate the experience. So I guess I'll just go chronologically and let you decide. The property is built well and has great views from all angles. The clean air, in the lap of nature, the occasional sound of the trains which you can see from your balcony room, leaves you happy and content. The rooms are pretty well made, and have all the essentials. The bath is also made very well and is stocked for all your needs. If you so desire, they will set up a camp fire for you. The breakfast is tasty and although its not a buffet, you can choose what you want from the available options and it will be brought to your table. the deck is a wonderful open area from where you can just sit and watch nature, have a cup of coffee, read a book, soak in the sun, or play with a friendly cat that might come along every once in a while. Seems perfect right? Well thats what we thought too! Sure does give you that impression in the beginning but there were some things that dropped this seemingly excellent experience down past great into a good or an about average one - 3 to be precise. 1. The first room we check in had a huge spider lurking behind a curtain. We changed rooms, and this one didnt have a functional door lock. So someone came and did something to it which made it work- somewhat. 2. The in-room dining as well as the breakfast options all seem very great and are tasty as well. But we cant pinpoint when or what during our 4 days was the culprit, but we both ended up with a constipated bloated stomach by day 3. So night 3 , day 4 and the drive back to Delhi on day 4 was not enjoyable at all. 3. My wife also caught a nasty case of the sniffles while we were there by night 2, which I succumbed to as well by night 3. We were completely baffled as to what the reason could be. It wasnt that cold then, and we didnt even go out anywhere. It was only on day 4 before checking out, while we were checking the room to ensure we had taken all our belongings that I out the cause. I pulled at the duvet quite rapidly, and in the sunlight streaming through the window, I saw - dust.... So I banged on the mattress a couple of times, and a cloud of dust / tiny particles / fabric strands flew up into the air, and I was smiling in my eureka moment. So I consoled my wife that we were fine, and we'd feel better after we checked out and began our journey back, as the culprit was micro dust and all we were suffering from was a dust allergy! And I was right - both our sniffles and sneezes sorted out within an hour of being inside our supremely clean car! We never had an inkling that this would be an issue, especially considering all the great reviews before. We didnt step out of the hotel during our stay coz we planned exactly that - a couple of days of doing nothing but looking at the hills, and all that stuff I wrote up above. We also can't say if our experience wouldve been same in all rooms, or on any other day. But, unfortunately, this is what our experience was meant to be. How we wish it wasn't the case! I can't even say that I would muster the courage to give them another shot. At least not immediately. The memory is still too fresh! Heck I even delayed writing a review about it for 3 months!!!...     Definitely Go for it if you are looking for a quite and quality time with your loved ones away from the city madness. you won't be disappointed, take my word for it. Ps: I would recommend to ask for attic room if available. It's feels amazing to wake up amidst pristine greenery and hills. You will absolutely love it..:)... More

    I was so very pleasantly surprised on the hospitality, food quality, room decor and Ambience. The food was delectable and the stay was almost blemish free. Room view and balcony view was fantastic. The way they had organized the evening party for us was quite pleasenlty surprising. Will visit again..... More
