Very pleasant place at the river

We went to the restaurant only. The food was amazing, served in a nice white dishes, live music, sounds of the nature... We would definitely come back and even take a room there, because place looks very pleasant especially in the evening with candles and colorful lights!

Awesome place. Very clean and quite big rooms, huge bed, balcony, nice garden. Peaceful place, very close to the beach. I've planned to stay only for 4 days but hotel was perfect for me so i stayed much longer. I would love to stay there next time when I come to Agonda
Yoga teacher training was a terrible experience.
on Jul 17, 2016
I took a one month course with Yogamea at the Agonda Palace in January 2016. Yogamea is run by Davide and Timea, Agonda Palace run by Sunny and staff. Yoga classes were taught by Bilu AKA Pralad.
I have to say the yoga classes are excellent and Biju was a wonderful teacher. Sunny was also kind and caring, along with the other Indian staff.
For accommodation it is very basic, it had been advertised as having hot water yet it was cold and very poor pressure, just a trickle. The food was also edible and sometimes tasty but very cheap, mostly lentil stews, rice and some sort of milky dessert with sugar. It was often nice but after one month it was very hard to digest, having little greens or a proper balance. The bed was very comfortable and lovely clean sheets. It is also situated very close to the beach and village.
However I do regret taking the yoga teacher training course with Davide & Timea at Yogamea. I had read so many positive reviews before booking and after my experience with them I found it difficult to write a my proper review on the yoga websites where I had booked. It seems they only allow positive reviews.
Davide seemed to be very helpful in getting me and many others to come to Yoga mea, but really he wanted money. In fact he told a lady on our course she would be fine on the course with having little English, the lady had traveled from Europe and she struggled terribly with the course. Davide and Timea were both ignorant and mean to the lady.
I met three other travellers who attended yoga classes during my stay, who were also very disappointed how badly run it was.
At first the course was going well, Biju is an excellent teacher of the yoga asana classes. Timea teaches the theory classes and some asana classes. At some point during the first week Timea became bullying towards the student who had little English, when the student was distressed about not learning, Timea literally yawned in her face! As the weeks progressed Timea continued her behaviour towards the other student and then towards me. She compared daily to another student. She belittled me in front of the class on several occasions. She became bored and agitated at any questions asked during class.
The theory classes were very poor and the final exams were a joke. During the month Timea used a projector to post all anatomy and spiritual info onto a wall during theory classes, we each them had to read it out and take as much notes as we could. The final exam is based on how well you copied the notes. How anyone could feel comfortable in calling themselves a proper yoga teacher after this is in my opinion a complete joke! I spoke up about not learning as well as id hoped and this was when Timea became bullying. I had also become constipated due to the daily lentil and rice stew. She spoke about my problem to everyone. And likened me to a depressed donkey in front of my class mates.
Davide spoke negatively about other students to me and others, he also discussed personal information on past guests which was entirely unprofessional and quite disrespectful. This was his character, and just a businessman at the core rather than the spiritual guru his website describes him to be.
Both Davide and Timea took advantage of the Indian way. They kept a full room at the hotel just to use the bathroom (they live somewhere else) while the Indian staff, manager and Biju all lived in cramped conditions. Some slept in a shed while Davide and Timeas room lay empty.
At the end of the course Timea humiliated me in front of my class mates, I left Agonda very sad, it has taken me many months to regain my confidence to practice yoga again. When I tried to write an honest review of my experience, Timea declared on social media that I was 'delusional' and I had missed 'half' my classes, when in fact I missed 4 classes in a whole month, which was due to stomach problems with the poor diet provided at Yogamea.
While I would recommend classes with Biju/Prahlad.
If the shower water was better, I would recommend the Agonda Palace.
I wouldn't recommend taking YTT with Yogamea, Timea and Davide, it really was an appalling experience with them, and regret the money and time I invested in the course. I really hope what happened to me does not happen to anyone else.
Best Yoga Retreat ever

I loved this place! Never had a yoga teacher like this before. He created an amazing atmosphere, gave perfect instructions and corrected our practicing softly but at the same time kept pushing us to our limits. The place is really nice, very close to the beach with extremely friendly staff and the food is just sooo good. I will definately come back!
An amazing yoga retreat

It was one of my best vacation ever! I took a small break from my work and I chose Agonda Palace for yoga and relaxation and I had it all. Davide (owner) was really helpful with my reservation and transportation arrangement. He was literally replying right away to my emails at any time! My arrival was smooth and my pick-up was friendly and helpful. Sunny (manager) was always helpful with anything I needed and he always present at the hotel. The staff were kind and attentive. I was sharing a room which was simple & decent with air-condition & hot water! The 3 meals were light & tasty.
The highlight of my stay was the yoga classes. The instructor Billu was so nice! I am a beginner and he helped me a lot. I think in these 5 days, I improved the most since I started practicing yoga.
I don’t usually repeat destination but I will definitely go back to Goa & Agonda Palace!
