About Gaya

Gaya is famous because of its two famous places of religious worship, which are; The Vishnupad temple and Bodh Gaya. The Vishnupad Temple is a shrine built in the hour of the Hindu deity Lord Vishnu. Legend around this temple is that the fossilized footprint found inside the temple premises belongs to Lord Vishnu himself. Bodh Gaya is a small temple complex on the outskirts of the city. This is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment.

About Agartala

Before independence Agartala, along with Tripura, was a princely state. It was ruled by the Mankya Royal family. The Manikya Royal family lived in the Ujjayanta Palace. The name of this palace was given by Rabindranath Tagore himself. This building was turned into a legislative building post-independence, and now it functions as a museum. There are other points of interest in Agartala as well, such as the Neer Mahal, the Tripura Sundari Temple, and the Jagannath Temple.
